Poll: Should Ireland ban flavoured vapes?

Senator James Reilly has said flavoured vapes like bublegum and candy make the habit an attractive prospect for young people.

FORMER HEALTH MINISTER James Reilly has called for Ireland to consider banning flavoured vapes to help prevent young people taking up the habit.

Earlier this week, Massachusetts became the first state to officially ban the sale of e-cigarettes, while most of the US has only prohibited flavoured products.

Michigan and New York both banned flavored e-cigarettes earlier this month, concerned by both the vaping-linked pulmonary disease as well as the tendency of flavored products to make young people addicted to nicotine.

Separately, New York’s health department recently said laboratory test results showed very high levels of vitamin E oil in cannabis cartridges used by 34 people in the state who had fallen ill after using e-cigarettes.

Irish clinicians have told TheJournal.ie that they have not seen any cases of similar illnesses linked to vaping but they are paying close attention to see what the cause of the outbreak is.

Reilly has said that “while the science is still evolving”, flavoured vapes like bublegum and candy make the habit an attractive prospect for people and should be banned.

“Our approach must be rooted in the idea that vapes are designed to introduce people to a new habit and keep them active in that habit,” he said.

So, what do you think? Should Ireland ban flavoured vapes?

My dishwasher likes to give out to me for not putting my socks in the wash basket and also likes watching soaps when there is champions league football on.

No fear of my Dishwasher going on fire !!

I had a Hotpoint DWF30 dishwasher a few years ago that went on fire. Thankfully I was there at the time. I noticed the flames inside the panel first, but in the short time it took to pull it out the flames had melted the top away. Guarantee you I wasn’t the only person with this particular model that went on fire. Last resort for these companies is a product recall.

The DWF30 has been identified in UK forums as also having this problem – same dodgy printed circuit board fro Bosch.

BOSCH made dishwashers for Indesit, Hotpoint etc. Also it seems (don’t know for sure) that Hotpoint may have made machines in their own factory in UK but likely used components and the printed circuit board under suspicion from BOSCH.

I didn’t specify manufacturer, the results of a fire from any dishwasher would be the same!
Not a nice thing to come home too, if your house has been ruined by an electrical appliance catching fire!
This information has been given out because of the programme, until it was highlighted the manufactures were not going to issue either a warning notice in the country!
