CIVIL SERVANTS IN Dublin could be dispersed further around the country in the future, Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe said in his Budget 2020 speech today.
Donohoe said his officials will be reviewing future workforce and office requirements for the civil service to consider the location of support offices and services. This will ensure consistency with Ireland 2040 goals and “balanced regional development”, the minister said today.
“Demographic changes and the next wave of technological change will place new demands on our key offices and Departments,” said Donohoe.
“The civil service of the future will be different in terms of its skills mix, use of technology and geographical footprint. We are therefore developing a longer term vision and strategy for the civil service.”
There are currently 335,594 public servants in the country, an increase of over 42,000 since 2014. There was also a rise in civil servant numbers during this period.
Decentralisation was proposed in 2003 by then-Minister for Finance Charlie McCreevy. The minister’s plan intended to move 10,300 Dublin-based public servants outside the capital by 2007.
They had intended to move to 53 locations in 25 counties around Ireland, however only a third of those jobs were decentralised before the plan was abandoned in 2011 and widely considered a failure.

The RC Church certainly lost a huge amount of its moral authority but as only 3% of child abuse was perpetrated by Catholic priests how do we handle those involved in the remaining 97%. Should we not demand that they be silenced also?

By not taking the vaccine the chances of getting cancer is higher, while at the same time it does not deter young people from having sex.

Ban universities from awarding degrees in matters of personal faith. It gives them notions above their station, and there’s no need for it since it’s not like priests have to compete for employers in jpbs market. Let them do all the studying training, by all means, but no need to give a prestigious award.
Whilst the bishop’s comments can at best be described as delusional, the government’s drive to silence debate is worrying. Medical issues often have broader psycho-social implications which are often not addressed by, or are beyond the remit of big pharma. I’m thinking the use of sedatives in nursing homes, Ritalin for adhd, xanax for just about everything and treatments which prolong lives or end lives unnecessarily rather than the hpv vaccination. The medications may deal with the immediate problem, but what they leave behind can be worse for the individual and society. It was just last week when big pharma were named as complicit in misleading the public over the link between pregnant women taking sodium valprorate and birth defects. The medical world is far from infallible.

2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. If this vaccine has even a tiny chance of ensuring my daughter does not go through the stomach churning fear that I have now of what lies ahead of me she will be getting it. Cancer is a word that happens to other people, you never expect it to actually relate to yourself. I hope that people will properly research this vaccine and decide that it is 100 percent worth getting.
Any minor reservations I had about giving my daughter the vaccine are gone now that a Bishop is against it.
