'House of fools': UK front pages react to Boris Johnson's Brexit defeat

Nearly all the UK front pages reacted to Boris Johnson’s forced Brexit extension request.

THE FRONT PAGE headlines on Sunday range from despair to delight that the UK is still part of the EU.

The Sunday Times leads with a story saying Prime Minister Boris Johnson is battling the “Brexit wreckers”.

EHRZV6gW4AAqBuB

The Sunday Telegraph splash says he has refused to sign a Brexit delay letter.

EHRSZEPWoAUBxiA

The Mail on Sunday calls the Parliament “The House of Fools”. “Today”, it writes,” “Britain could have begun to heal after the end of our Brexit purgatory.”

EHRJeSyW4AEVZfA

The Observer, though, says Mr Johnson suffered a “humiliating defeat”.

EHRGC8dXkAMNTWm

The Sunday Mirror also says the PM was humiliated and adds that he’s been “forced to beg EU for Brexit delay”.

EHRYp3AWoAUrH6Z

The Independent says a million people marched on Westminster to demand a final say on Brexit.

The EU gave to grow a set of balls here . They’ve changed the agreement that they said wouldn’t change and it’s still not good enough for the UK . On October 31 throw them out simple as that. If it means a hard border so be it . Let the brits deal with the fall out . This has dragged on to long .

Let them see exactly how the government and the papers have lied, but there should NEVER be a hard border. The Irish don’t deserve any more bloodshed. The Irish deserve the respect and support that the EU have shown them.

Present UK parliament was elected *after* the Brexit vote, an election called out of turn specifically to give a Brexit a mandate in the HoC, which it did not receive – this Parliament represents the electorate’s reponse to a decision made in the utter ignorance created by Britain’s appalling press.

@2thFairy: I know, but my point is this is better than a No Deal Brexit, and the best deal Ireland has yet been offered. We need all the uncertainty to end as it’s holding back business. If they don’t pass this deal it could get a lot worse. They at the very least should have voted. The Eu put a lot of work into this and they are fuming, maybe even ready to say No to an extension. Holland spent hundreds of millions preparing for Brexit, France and Ireland spent a lot too.

The best deal is that the UK remain, compared to that, everything else is a bad. The way you’re putting it, it sounds like Bojo might’ve got a better deal which just isn’t so. What he got was EU cooperation in a rebranding exercise which was jolly nice of them.

Not sure by what you mean by calling me a vehement believer, I am very much on the side of remain as I don’t believe the U.K. leaving is in the best interests of anyone.
