Sinn Féin voted to ban balloon releases today at the party's Ard Fheis. Mark Stedman/RollingNews.ie

SF motion to prevent 5G rollout defeated, while party votes to ban balloon releases

The motion called for a review to establish the “independent facts” about the possible health impact of 5G rollout.

A MOTION CALLING on the government to carry out an independent review of 5G rollout across the country has been defeated at the Sinn Féin Ard Fheis.

It called for a review to establish the “independent facts” about the possible health impact of 5G rollout.

Another motion calling for the postponement of the 5G network was also defeated.

Earlier this week, Donegal TD Pearse Doherty said the Ard Comhairle – the party headquarters – supported the motion calling for the health and environmental concerns relating to 5G to be reviewed.

However, this evening, the membership voted down the motion.

5G is the next step up from the 4G and 3G services offered through mobile phones. It is capable of much faster download and upload speeds. Vodafone was the first network to offer it to customers earlier this year, but many other mobile phone networks are now following suit.

A number of communities have voiced concerns about the arrival of 5G in Ireland, in particular the radiation levels it emits, the impact of mobile masts and associated infrastructure, and the radio waves impact on humans.

Councillors in Clare, Leitrim, Sligo and Wicklow have passed motions raising objections to 5G on health grounds, while protests have been held in towns such as Dingle in Kerry.

Separately, the party membership voted in favour of a motion seeking to ban balloon and lantern releases for marking special occasions.

The motion called on community and campaign groups to find alternative ways of celebrating and commemorating events, stating that balloons have a hugely negative impact on the environment, as well as causing suffering and death to wildlife and sealife.

According to the current body of evidence in innovative
risk research, there is now clear evidence of so-called biological effects of wireless communication technologies, which can range from impaired well-being to serious disorders of or damages to the quality of life and health. This increase in wireless radiation exposure takes a heavy toll on risk groups, especially on children, adolescents, and persons with electromagnetic hypersensitivity. https://kompetenzinitiative.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Statement_Mainz_4-6_Oct_2019_english.pdf?fbclid=IwAR3iDXUtiOX7e6mVddTDonN6I6SBHk2vrGyrrXnGvHfj7F9NOhnMNHX20RQ

@Kath Noonan: when I get an answer as to what is innovative risk research then its a matter of which one i prefer.

Google suggests its something to do with business studies. The studies, it does not state who it was conducted by, claim to make some sort of medical findings about the effects of 5g.

The sentence basically means business students claim 5g is bad for your health.

What if British /Russian / or American trolls are spreading disinformation about future technologies to keep Irelands economy static. Do we know who is funding innovative risk research?

@Kath Noonan: radio waves have existed since the Big bang. Before life existed on this planet. 5g technology is about sending messages and receiving messages along those wavelengths. We have been doing it to various degrees for over a century. The waves exist all around us, we did not invent them, all we do is inevnt the transmitters and receivers to send messages along them, like the mast at the top of a mountain sending messages along radio waves and the car or kitchen radio receiving them.

5g is a technology to send and receive messages along radio waves on the Internet.

The radio waves have always existed. If they could do so much damage as some claim they would have been weaponised by now. Russian and American soldiers aren’t running around recent conflicts with 5g guns or dropping 5g bombs.
