Lucan attack: Gardaí seeking to trace movements of '05 CW' reg car sold last week

It is understood that gardaí suspect the man was shot before the car was set alight in Lucan.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for information in relation to a car bought last week after a man was found dead in a burning vehicle in Lucan, Dublin yesterday evening. 

The man was found in the Mount Andrew Rise area of Lucan at about 8pm. 

Gardaí last night confirmed that the man was discovered after the burning car was extinguished by emergency services. 

It is understood that gardaí suspect the man was shot before the car was set alight. 

The scene had been sealed off for a technical examination. 

The body of the man has now been removed to the Office of the State Pathologist where a post-mortem will be carried out by Locum State Pathologist Dr Heidi Okkers.

The results of the post-mortem examination will determine the course of the investigation, gardaí have said.

Gardaí are now appealing to the public for any information in relation to a Navy Toyota Corolla, registration 05-CW-2225. 

This vehicle was sold on Wednesday, 13 November and gardaí are seeking information in relation to its movements since then. 

Gardaí are also appealing for anyone who may have information, including any road users who travelled in the area on last night who may have dash cam footage available, to contact Lucan Garda Station on 01 666 7300 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Last night’s incident comes after a shooting at Griffeen Glen Park, 3km south of Mount Andrew Rise, in early September.

In that incident a man in his early 40s sustained injuries after being shot a number of times while in his car.
