FOR THE SECOND week in a row, there’ll be no audience in attendance as Ryan Tubridy hosts RTÉ’s flagship The Late Late Show tomorrow evening.
The presenter will hear from the frontline emergency staff who’ve been working tirelessly at the coalface of the public health crisis brought about by coronavirus from 9.35pm tomorrow.
And, as testing centres are rolled out around the country, The Late Late Show will feature a step-by-step demonstration of what is involved in being tested for Covid-19.
In studio, Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe will answer questions submitted by viewers about the financial uncertainties caused by the coronavirus.
Chief medical officer Dr Tony Holohan will also provide the latest update on the development of the virus in Ireland.
Also on the bill are Munter rugby player Billy Holland and his wife Lanlih. From their home in Cork, they’ll introduce their newborn baby son Matthew to the world.
They were on the Late Late just two months ago, and viewers raised nearly €700,000 in memory of their daughter Emmeline.

I’m all for knowledge and being aware of coronavirus and what to look out for, how to be safe etc., it’s definitely important but would it be too much to get some light relief and get two hours without hearing about it as I hear and read about it every other hour of the day.
@Mark Brown: He cant get guests to appear on the show, and whether you like it or not, the demand for info is insatiable. You only have to work at the HSELive helpline to see that. Not that i have, yet.
@Mark Brown: I agree, wall to wall coronavirus feed is wrecking my head, I’m working from home and would usually have the radio on in the background, at the moment I’m only listening in occasionally for an update. I know it’s very serious and I know what I should and shouldn’t do, but it’s too much for me, making me very anxious.
@Jun Stone: I agree. It’s actually quite demoralising and utterly repetitive. I watch the news at 5.30 on Virgin and the first half of RTE news at 9 o’c , maybe 15 mins of BBc or Sky News in the evening and completely avoid it otherwise. If people dont know what know to do/not to do at this stage, there is no hope for them. As for Ryan Tubridy – I would prefer to chew on broken glass.
@Neil McAuley: I agree we need some light relief , even if rte showed some funny movies or family films. Even father Ted one a night. Something funny! Ryan should have music and comedy on.

Just finished watching primetime and the intensive care consultant couldn’t be more clear in saying even now one in five die if they need icu and with this virus we don’t even know the figure that will die if need ICU or even Get a bed but we do know we don’t have a treatment for the virus only supportive care so her message was clear just don’t get it clearly speaks . Will everyone young and old just take the social spacing seriously and just stay home and get your family members to stay home . These next days could make us Italy if we don’t slow it down and we have half the ratio of icu beds to them . What’s a few weeks of our life . Even too much walking may not be so safe if people coughing in to the air as pass so distance outside is equally important and to walk at quieter times .
@mary o dwyer: A certain proportion of the population are what I call “doubters” they will not nor ever will countenance any instruction regarding what may lay ahead. These individuals need to see the coffins stacked up, the funeral homes failing to cope, the crematorium having to fill the gap of burial and lastly the broken hearted. Yes the “doubters” know best and will have their way come hell or high water.

What a load of shite. If someone needs to get tested for it they just go do it. Ya hardly need a demonstration on a friday night talkshow. Give us a break ffs. Yawn is an understatement.
@John Joyce: There might be elderly people or people afraid of doctors and tests who might find the demo useful.
