Former White House hopeful Elizabeth Warren endorses Joe Biden for president

Biden, 77, now has the endorsement of all former major Democratic candidates.

FORMER WHITE HOUSE hopeful Elizabeth Warren has endorsed her onetime rival Joe Biden, becoming the final major Democratic candidate to publicly support his presidential bid.

The formal backing from Warren, a progressive senator from Massachusetts, comes two days after ex-candidate Bernie Sanders announced his backing for Biden, and 24 hours after Barack Obama formally endorsed his two-term vice president.

“We can’t afford to let Donald Trump continue to endanger the lives and livelihoods of every American,” Warren said in a video message, referring to the Republican incumbent.

“And that’s why I’m proud to endorse Joe Biden as president of the United States.”

Warren’s pledge of support is the latest boost for the centrist stalwart Biden, who has been the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee since his lone remaining rival Sanders quit the race last week.

Warren - who built her campaign around a promise to end a corrupt” Washington system that she said rewarded the wealthy and fueled economic inequality – dropped out in early March.

Biden has surged since he righted his listing campaign ship by winning the South Carolina primary on 29 February and most of the subsequent contests.

Warren has hammered Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, warning that his administration lacks a comprehensive plan to end the crisis that has so far killed 26,000 people in the United States.

“In this moment of crisis, it is more important than ever that the next president restores Americans’ faith in good effective government,” she said.

Warren framed Biden as a politician of grace and grit who has spent nearly his entire life in public service and has the experience and dedication to “rebuild and transform” the nation.

The 70-year-old spoke of seeing Biden’s capabilities up close when he was vice president and she was helping the White House establish a financial watchdog agency.

“He knows that a government run with integrity, competence and heart will save lives and save livelihoods,” she said.

Biden, 77, now has the endorsement of all former major Democratic candidates, including Senator Kamala Harris, who has been discussed as a potential vice presidential pick.

It baffles me how they think he can come close to beating Trump. The man can barely speak and will for sure make a fool of himself in a presidential debate against trump.

It’s interesting how a man who has lost the ability to speak coherently is the democratic candidate! If the dems had not been so preoccupied with hoaxes the last few years, they may have unearthed a better candidate. If he gets elected, it’ll be good news for the Deep State (the unelected bureaucrats in the intelligence community, NSC Justice Department that wield so much influence), big business and the lobby groups as theyll be running the show again. Itll be a disaster for the ordinary US citizen and the world though!

Obviously didn’t do as great a job as he thought he would.

Nothing coherent in having temper tantrums at his press briefings because he doesn’t have the aptitude or leadership to handle a crisis.

Any other President would have got a huge bounce in the polls from a crisis like this, GW Bush was at 90% after 9/11.

@Diaspora’d: 1) “it’s a disaster right now for Americans with depression era unemployment levels.” – The reason why the US is headed for recession/depression is because it is shut down due one of the worst health crisis in decades. Yesterday, you were complaining that DT was not doing enough to combat the crisis (e.g. shutting down the country sooner, in February). Today, you are complaining about the economic effects that are occuring due to the shut down of the country that DT has helped to implement. You can’t have it both ways. To me this is obvious TDS. You hate DT no matter what he does!
    2) “15 cases would soon be down close to zero” – I think it is safe to say that most leaders, organisations, health officials made errors here, e.g. the WHO, European leaders inc here in Ireland, the WHO, Fauci (I documented around 5 things yesterday that he said e.g. in March he said that there is no issue for healthy people to go on cruise ships), Cuomo, etc.
    3) If I remember correctly, yesterday you wrote that DT was grossly negligent. If he was, all other world leaders were too.
    4) “Nothing coherent in having temper tantrums at his press briefings” – Very difficult when you have fake journalists asking stupid questions + DT has had to put up with this for 4 years + these “journalists” have helped propagate past hoaxes, e.g. Russiagate.

@Diaspora’d: “America is currently top of the table with the number of deaths caused by COVID.” – I’ve a few comments on this:
    1) It’s a pity we can’t rely on China’s numbers. I suspect they are top of the table.
    2) The US is one of the most populous countries in the world – nearing 330 million. Also, the US is the epicentre of the globalised world. It probably has more flights to/from China (+ probably many other countries too) than any other country. It was also going to be hit by this crisis.
    3) The US has done worse than some countries but better than others, mainly European countries (many of which are in the EU) – As of today, the US has 86 deaths per 1 million ppl. Spain has 397, Belgium has 383, Italy has 358, France has 263, the UK has 190, the Neterlands has 183, Switzerland has 143, Sweden has 119, Luxembourg has 110 and IRELAND has 90. I don’t hear many complaining about the leaders of these countries or the EU on these forums surprisingly, even though the situations are worse. Also, Italy had it’s 1st confirmed case after the US!
    4) Between a half and a third of all US total cases and deaths are concentrated in a tiny part of the country, NY state. It doesn’t help having one of the densest places on earth in the state, i.e. Manhattan. Exclude NY and NJ and that takes away nearly half of the US total cases and deaths.
    5) The US did not have it’s first confirmed CV death until 29th February. Most people forget this.

In my own state in Wisconsin low turnout among Democrats particularly among the African American vote cost Hillary the state in 2016. Biden alway seems to have particularly high support among African Americans and in fact it was their vote in Carolina that won him the primary. The turnout in cities like Detroit, Cleveland and Milwaukee will win or lose the election

Getting the most votes is a different ball game than going after a win in the current system.

If you don’t like the system you can always get enough people on board for a constitutional convention or get congress and enough states to support the system.

    @Freddie Rincon:

That’s a very cynical perspective. They have children and grandchildren. And even if they didn’t, most people aren’t that self centred to not care how their actions affect the world.

@Freddie Rincon: They do have experience. I know that’s something that most laugh at, but all societies in history that have thrived have valued their ”elders” wisdom. Even young leaders have had older advisors. Seeing the pattern here? We live longer than when that law was probably decided, so it’s not hard to believe we stay more immature longer. You’ll see plenty of evidence by the know-it-all’s on any Trump article allowing comments.

Who ever is running this simulation clearly has a sick sense of humor over the past couple of weeks.

Senator Warren clearly hoping that Mr Biden will consider her over Senator Harris for the VP job.

Because at this point he needs a female VP candidate.

But all hope is not lost, it’s a long time to the convention and he might drop out and we end up with someone else.

We don’t know it’s a long time to the convention.

This just smells like a big, fat gimmick again. Their government really cannot comprehend how someone who isn’t ”one of them” got in. Barely any of his own party wanted him or have stood up to the bs Trump gets that any other president would have waltzed through. Can tell you right now the DNC would never have put Biden up for president, if Hillary had won. They are trying hard to morph him into the same person the batshite crazy Democrats among the more sane ones have said Trump is since before he won the presidency. He’s even getting more orange by the day. Can they not see the similarities? He’s an old white man who suddenly lost his mind (after being a career politician for decades) and can’t put a coherent sentence together, who has had a few half-hearted ”he touched me decades ago” in the last few months. It’s ridiculous! Their government IS a swamp. I wish them well, because based on our own Trump articles that allow comments, Russia is sending out more bots to win Trump that election again. (wink, wink)

@Hana Barbera: Do you even read what you write ?

“Can tell you right now the DNC would never have put Biden up if Hillary had won”

Of course they wouldn’t! If Hilary had won then she would be the incumbent President seeking 4 more years
