Motorcyclist killed in crash on M1 in north Dublin

The crash happened yesterday evening.

A MOTORCYCLIST WAS killed in a single-vehicle crash that happened on the M1 motorway yesterday evening.

The crash happened at about 7.15pm on the northbound side of the motorway near junction 6 Balbriggan.

The driver of the motorcycle, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene and nobody else was injured in the incident.

Garda forensic collision investigators are currently at the scene and the road is closed with local diversions in place.

Any witnesses to the crash are being told to contact gardaí at Balbriggan Garda Station, as is anyone who may have dashcam footage and were in the area at the time.

    RIP young man.only watched Road last night on bbc1 about the Dunlops.great watch but very sad.death machines but these guys just love their bikes

    Have ridden bikes at up to 250kmh. The adrenaline rush is something else but the sudden stop can be fatal.

    @Paul: I’d rather die slowly and be pitied. At least I could plan for my death, make the necessary arrangements to take the burden off my family and also get the opportunity to say goodbye to my family so it’s not a shock when it does happen. Nothing worse than being cheated out of the opportunity to tell your loved ones you love them for the last time.

    @Danielle Cafolla: have to agree. I fear a slow death but as I get older I realise that putting your house in order before you die and preparing your family for it helps them hugely.
