Quad deaths are massively on the rise in recent years. Seen a guy talking in another similar article last week about some sort of a grant incentive for UTV,s or Gators which would be a welcome to try reduce these stats.

@Maureen and Dave Nomates: Quad bikes aren’t 4×4 vehicles, they don’t have a cab to protect the person driving and they have such a low centre of gravity they should be considered as sensitively as one would ride a mountain bike – whether it’s on uneven terrain or hilly ground. For example, if I were driving a quad on the Curragh (which is very flat) to round up sheep, the Curragh may be flat to look at and a quad is sturdy to look at, but the body of the quad is as light/ lighter than a tractor-mower filled with petrol because the wheels are wide but small, and nearly as heavy as the body of the quad itself, consequently, if I were to hit a dip in the ground – where is my body weight going to go? I have no protective cab, I’m at the same level as the engine and wheels, so, if I drive into a small ditch then it’s going to roll over, possibly with me underneath – not to mention what could happen on a hillside. They aren’t designed for agricultural work [in Ireland] even though some people use them as such, that’s why most farmers don’t use them because they are so dangerous and they don’t aid farming practices in any way.

    Notwithstanding, RIP.
