Congratulations. I hope you and your two children will be safe and very happy there.

For your future and your children’s future please see this as an opportunity to change your family tree. Break the cycle so your children and their children won’t have the same harsh life you had.

Education for your children needs to be a priority and limiting family size to what you can comfortably afford without relying on the state.

Good for them, now I’d love to see a follow up in six months then twelve. I wonder if these people are being supported in terms of learning how to budget/going back to work/getting the fathers support, maintaining healthy homes for their children etc. I mostly disagree with the nanny state but in these instances I suspect it’s required….

Feel like the second girls story jade is seen too many times up and down the country, 19 year old has a child while at home, in a crowded house and then at 22 has another child and her family house then becomes too crowded so has to move into emergency accommodation and suffer it for the years to get the permanent home, probably turning down rental accommodation while waiting because its unstable and they want their “forever home ” , need to educate about contraception so this doesn’t happen so much , imagine everyone in the country had the same mindset of doing that to get a house , the country would fall apart. I feel like you have to help them because their kids didn’t ask to live in a hotel, but on some level giving them the house in the end will only encourage more and more of this. Most annoying is when it’s asked why did do you have kids you can’t support they always say the same “it just happens”

@Niall Ormond: Ok so with your logic the US should have a very low stat because as we all know there is no such thing as a free house over there……educate yourself and check the stats for the US, it tops the list……so please explain?

The culture of entitlement and welfare dependency can be very rewarding. The ?€20 billion spend on direct social welfare payments (and many other billions on health, education and justice system) is not from the state… it is from the taxes of working people AND loans that will be dumped upon future generations.
Gross mismanagement at its finest – completely encouraged and promoted by central bankers so it can debt trap countries and take nations physical assets when it sends in its “advisors”.

@mursim: do you guys not read the article? the apartment was purchased and redeveloped by taxpayer find (the same government that you are complaining about). they then hand them over (similar to schools that they build being handed over to the church) to private charities to allocate, at their discretion, to people who qualify for the council housing list. This is the social housing you are taking about, just operated by a private company (that we pay them for), not the council.

Some people’s comments are vile! Only the heartless would want people homeless. Why always look at the poorer in society as the ones to cast blame onto? No one likes having to beg or practically beg for money to get food or shelter!
You’d rather see a president fly in a private jet than seeing kids and family have a roof over their heads? Maybe if the government sorted out housing, had a decent health system & education system. Maybe if they actually had proper support for people to try to improve their situation, then social welfare would be lessened and not such a vicious cycle that degraded a person.
