A WARM AND humid day is forecast around the country today, setting the tone for what’s set to be a mild week for many.
Met Éireann said that it’ll be largely dry over the eastern half of the country but scattered showers or longer spells of rain will affect western parts today.
It’ll be mostly cloudy overall but spells of hazy sunshine will occur at times too.
Maximum temperatures will range between 18 to 22 degrees.
Tomorrow, warm sunny spells will develop as the day goes on but there’ll also be scattered showers particularly in western areas. Some of these showers may be heavy.
Highest temperatures will be 19 to 23 degrees with Leinster enjoying the warmest weather.
Wednesday will see similar conditions once early mist and fog patches clear.
The highest temperatures will dip back below 20 degrees by Friday, but early indications for next weekend said that there’ll be largely dry and settled conditions with high pressure dominating the weather pattern.
Across the Irish Sea, Britain is set to experience even hotter conditions with the south-east of England to enjoy temperatures as high as 30 degrees this week.

The rebels don’t have local support and probably can’t win. The war to retake Crimea might start this summer and is a more worrying issue.

I’ve been to Russia many times. “Stinking hole” it is not. The people are wonderful. Kind and open hearted, straight talking, family oriented, non materialistic compared to many countries in the west. And I’ve yet to meet any who refer to other countries they way you do.

After having lived in Holland, Vietnam, Turkey and Germany for many years, this is probably the most interesting country I have lived in . Very rich culture in music, Literature, and art. Amazing progress nearly all avenues of life in the past ten years. Great people. From a mentality point of view, much closer to the Irish than many of our Teutonic neighbors. It’s one of the youngest democracies in the world, so have patience, and don’t believe everything you read in the papers.

Here’s the scene at a Ukrainian boarder checkpoint a few days ago after rebels with BTR armoured personnel carriers and military trucks loaded with weapons, tried to cross from Russia.
The Ukrainian boarder guards had to retreat to the Russian checkpoint, where they were given medical aid.
They then regrouped and traveled to another Ukrainian checkpoint where they called in air strikes on the separatists.
Infidel, you’re right, they are an old Ukrainian tanks that are no longer in the Russian arsenal, but they did crossover from Russia, from Crimea… the Russians annexed Crimea, it’s part of Russia now.

I was mistaken, the 3 tanks don’t have Ukrainian markings. Looks likely that there did cross over from Russia, they are old Russian tanks after all.

The rebel separatists released a list of combat vehicles they had seized from the Ukrainian military about 2-3 weeks ago, guess what was on it….t64 tanks and these APCs they are saying crossed the border now, laughable propaganda really.

Civilians are dying every day in rebel held territory. The poorly trained conscript Ukraine army is badly coordinated and lacks reliability in large ground offensives. It is shelling cities from long range. Yesterday in Slavyansk a 6 year old girl was killed by shelling. The city lacks reliable power and water and is on the verge of a humanitarian crisis. Criticising the rebels for successful attacks on enemy air superiority is gross hypocrisy. There is no sense the the failure of Kiev to halt attacks and hold talks. No sense of course unless one considers US involvement as a controlling agent which desires a prolonged war on Russia’s border.

There are even clips reportedly showing white phosphorous being used in Slavyansk circulating at the moment.
Would journal.ie consider publishing a report on Ukraine from a source other than AFP? I would suggest as you can see from the overwhelming amount of comments on every AFP article on Ukraine on this site that AFP is simply not giving balanced coverage and is most decidedly biased in favour if the Kiev/western side. There is never any mention of the civilians dying by indiscriminate shelling every day in rebel territory.

We could yet see such a comparison. Singapore is the jewel of SE Asia. Kiev is unique amoung European cities with skilled population well educated. I could see thrm becoming a hub for Europe/Russia/Middle East. Of course no matter what route they go down to achive this they have a ten year battle to created a modern economy and attract inward investment. But if they play it right with the agricultural sector there they could feed Europe.
