Gardaí not looking for any other person or vehicle in relation to death of e-scooter user in Meath

The man, who was in his 20s, was found on the road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

GARDAÍ HAVE SAID a post-mortem on the body of a man who died in Meath on Saturday has been completed and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Gardaí attended the scene at around 2.50am on Saturday following reports of an unconscious man lying on the road.

The man, who was in his late 20s, had been travelling on an electric scooter from the Slane direction.  He was treated by ambulance services but was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí today said the results of his post-mortem are not being released but they are not looking for any other person or vehicle in relation to the incident.

They are continuing to appeal for any witnesses or for anyone with information to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling on the N51 in Harmanstown between approximately 1:30am and 3:00am are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.

    Terrible tragic accident

Where are all the lads that were on here the other day blaming drivers.
Saying how it was all the drivers fault and nothing to do with the safety of scooters blah blah bla.

@Gar: he has a point though, people are very quick to blame and jump to their own conclusions particularly on the journal comments.

@Michael Burke: the purpose of the comment section is to jump to conclusions without any proof? Yep common sense ain’t very common. Now that it’s been proven they are not looking for anyone else or any cars sure you may aswell put up a comment saying it was a drink driver in a red car with no light on hit him and kept going. Gob sh**e

Hopefully the knowledge that it seems to have been an unfortunate accident involving just himself might make it a bit easier for his family. I think the anger I would feel if I thought it was a hit and run would make his death much harder to come to terms with.

@Alan Dillon: It was classed as a ” possible hit and run ” on all of the news outlets.

@Peter Dowling: Well, the Gardai, having conducted an investigation, have stated that it was not a hit and run (they’re not looking for anyone) so all of the news outlets were wrong.

@Peter Dowling: possible is not synonymous with definitely. Commentors here love a good jump to conclusions.
