The Mandalorian is back with a new season: Watch the trailer here and stream it today

This is the way. Only on Disney+.

“I CAN BRING you in warm, or I can bring you in cold.”

This iconic line from the title character of The Mandalorian, a lone bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, set the tone for the show’s first season. The first ever live-action TV series in the Star Wars franchise gripped fans and won rave reviews when it was released last year.

Today marks the global premiere of the new season of The Mandalorian, which is streaming exclusively on Disney+.

It sees The Mandalorian and The Child continue their journey, facing enemies and rallying allies in the tumultuous era after the collapse of the Galactic Empire.

The full Season 2 trailer, released last month, promises an action-packed ride through a dangerous galaxy. “Wherever I go, he goes,” The Mandalorian tells a group threatening The Child… and we won’t spoil the rest.

Along for the trip, too, are some old friends from Season One, which was acclaimed by critics. “Visually stunning, consistently entertaining,” wrote the Chicago Sun-Times. “Very, very good,” said TV Guide, adding: “You don’t have to be a huge Star Wars fan to appreciate it”.

The new season has been kept tightly under wraps, but creator Jon Favreau has promised an even more expansive vision as the journey continues.

In the trailer, The Mandalorian asks: “You expect me to search the galaxy and deliver this creature to a race of enemy sorcerers?”

The answer is simple: “This is the way.”

The Mandalorian Season 2 premieres October 30, 2020, streaming only on Disney+. Watch it and catch up on Season 1 – plus more of the world’s greatest stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic – for just €6.99 a month. Find out more here

@Thomas Quinn: amazon did the same thing with “the boys”. It makes shows more popular when fans have a week to discuss each episode. Builds up buzz over time. Netflix’s binge strategy works for them because they have so many options to choose from. In contrast Amazon and Disney only have a few decent shows.

@Rudiger McMonihan: Everyone was hyping the Witcher on Netflix but after a fortnight it was old news

@Thomas Quinn: Apparently its to do with promoting subscription renewal. Assuming for arguments sake that each month is equal, around 8% of customers are up for annual renewal over month using the prime model . Disney+ use it as a way of retaining subscribers beyond the trial period. Bloody annoying imho but not surprising.

@Shane McGettrick: every streaming site that isn’t Netflix does the same thing, Amazon did it with The Boys as well. Netflix has ground on everyone else because they always have the new big thing lined up directly afterwards so they can afford to have the all in one go binge method, where as Amazon and Disney don’t have that security blanket of a guarantee

@The God Of All Nerds: the first season of the boys and the most amazon prime shows had the release in one shot model, but that’s changing. I expect netflix to follow suit, they might have plenty of exclusive content but alot is just filler.
So far the only Netflix shows released episodically are ones being broadcast weekly on American cable TV, such as Discovery.

People acting as if it’s some injustice that The Madalorian only airs one episode per week as if that’s not how television worked for decades and decades before Netflix. Netflix has not been long enough for folks to start acting like week by week episodes releases are something out of Antiques Roadshow

Doing the episodes week to week just means flipping between streaming subscriptions every month or two. I’m not paying for Disney+ again until the full season is up along with the final season of Agents of Shield. I have Amazon and apple free at the moment through various promos so I’m only paying for Netflix.
