THE YORKSHIRE RIPPER serial killer has died in hospital, the UK Prison Service has confirmed.
Peter Sutcliffe had reportedly refused treatment at University Hospital of North Durham after being transferred there from maximum security HMP Frankland, where he was an inmate.
Sutcliffe (74) had tested positive for Covid-19 and was suffering from underlying health conditions.
He was serving a whole life term for murdering 13 women across Yorkshire and the North West between 1975 and 1980.
He was convicted in 1981 and, after a long spell in Broadmoor Hospital in Berkshire, he was transferred to HMP Frankland in 2016 after being deemed stable enough to serve time in prison.
A Prison Service spokesman said: “HMP Frankland prisoner Peter Coonan (born Sutcliffe) died in hospital on 13 November. The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has been informed.”
Sutcliffe had reportedly suffered from a range of conditions before his death including heart trouble, diabetes and obesity.

As always, it’s sad that public (myself included) remembers the name of the serial killer and not his victims. They should get our attention and not the killer

Friday the 13th lucky for some especially for those who were impacted by his evil actions. . Hopefully somone will find peace from this news. Im sure he devastated mamy lives..!

Don’t forget the judge in the case said he would have handed down the death penalty to Gerry Conlon “without a moments hesitation” if it was available to him at the time. The death penalty is barbaric, not a deterrent and costs significantly more to implement than life sentences (according to all available US statistics).

@Darren Byrne: Great, except a lot of “these sort of criminals” have been known to “remember” the location of other bodies etc. as time passes, which gives comfort and closure to victims’ families. So you would be denying them that for… what, exactly?

Well I suppose at least something good came from the Covid-19 virus, couldn’t of happened to a more deserving person. Evil man.
The bigger tragedy here was the incompetence of the initial investigative team and the number of murders that could have been avoided.
Of course “Wearside Jack” did not help matters either, he passed away back in 2019 after a serving a few years in prison. Not a well man by all accounts.
Thankfully the new team removed the focus on the the hoax letters and calls and went back to good old fashioned police work.

My mam was visiting a friend in Leeds when he killed someone there. He was a strange one, there was no real motive ( se xual for example) he just attacked indiscriminately
