Pornhub introduces curbs against illegal content amid reports of child sex abuse and rape videos

The New York Times reported finding videos featuring illegal content on the site.

PORNOGRAPHY WEBSITE PORNHUB has outlined measures against illegal content on its platform after the New York Times reported finding videos depicting child sex abuse and rape on the site.

The paper reported that among the 6.8 million new videos posted on the site each year, a majority “probably involve consenting adults, but many depict child abuse and non-consensual violence”.

Pornhub, the New York Times said, also lets users download videos directly from its site, which allowed anyone to re-post clips repeatedly and without limit.

“Today, we are taking major steps to further protect our community,” said a statement on Pornhub.

“Going forward, we will only allow properly identified users to upload content. We have banned downloads,” it added.

Going forward only content partners and people who earn ad revenue from their videos will be able to upload videos to the site.

“In the new year, we will implement a verification process so that any user can upload content upon successful completion of identification protocol,” the statement read.

Paid downloads remain possible, says the company, adding that it has also strengthened its moderation process.

On Monday, officials at MasterCard and Visa launched a probe into their links with site, warning that they would cut ties with the parent company, MindGeek, if it turns out that the site is not following the law.

Pornhub told the AFP news agency in a statement that it has “no tolerance” for content that shows sexual abuse of children.

We have been promised for years now that the gov or regulators were looking into the motor industry cabal. Where is there any action? FF and FG could pull the finger out and do us a favour.

@RogersRabbit: Do us a favour? You having a laugh? It took Europe to come in and start investigating the insurance cartels here. Just another cartel along with energy, banking, waste and they tried water. If we could only lift the lid a bit more on the cozy cartels, lobbying and politicians. I’d say there’s more to come on 3billion broadband (we won’t own) and the childrens hospitals, another 3 billion. If they think leaking confidential documents is called ‘sharing’, shows just how much they think of the electorate. They think we are complete mugs, laughing at us as they break the law, moving public money into private hands.

I can not understand how it is a legal obligation to have car insurance, yet the only providers of car insurance are for-profit businesses. This has meant that the government has negated its responsibility to the motorist by only having major cooperations supplying a legally required insurance.
In a fairer system, the basic mandatory insurance requirement of third party insurance should be provided by the state through different revenue means and people then have a choice to upgrade that insurance to fully comprehensive, through third party suppliers.

Our Government could offer motor insurance tomorrow and immediately wipe this gouging out as these insurance companies would then have to compete with a respectable policy price but they don’t. Why are people in Ireland forced to buy a legally required document from a private company. Its disgraceful. Why can’t we also buy insurance from any insurance company in Europe if the euro zone is ment to be so great. No, that would also slow the profit making so we cant have that either. Its so openly corrupt it’s unreal.

Please note that I will be voting for a party that will put forward a policy to establish a state operated insurance fund to provide the legally imposed requirement for 3rd party & public liability.
It is well established that handing this business to mainly offshore corporations which are clearly using the legal requirement for insurance as a licence to screw Irish business & consumers.
Leave them the optional insurance trade, & “take back control” of the economically critical elements.
