EVERY WEEKDAY evening, TheJournal.ie brings you the five things you need to know by 5pm.

1. #NAMA: The National Asset Management Agency has recorded a profit of €247 million after tax for 2011. That’s compared to €1.18 billion loss the previous year.

2.#EDUCATE TOGETHER: The multi-denominational body Educate Together is to take over the patronage in two secondary schools for the first time. A school in Blanchardstown will come under the responsibility of the body, while patronage of another in Drogheda will be shared by the VEC.

3. #QUINN: Where is Peter Daragh Quinn? While the search continues, Teemore Shamrocks GAA club in Fermanagh has urged members of the Fermanagh community to support the Quinn family as it deals with what the club calls “unreasonable and outrageous treatment”.

4. #AURORA: Batman star Christian Bale has visited Aurora in Colorado to pay a visit to people injured in last week’s shooting at a cinema in which 12 people died. Bale and his wife visited a makeshift memorial and the local hospital.

5. #OLYMPICS: Aaaand they’re off! The London 2012 Olympics are now officially underway with the first of six women’s football matches underway between Great Britain and New Zealand. Earlier today Joanna Mills confirmed that she’s not going to appeal the decision to oust her from Ireland’s 4x400m relay team.

From my understanding NAMA was set up to minimise losses so this has to be good news or am I missing the point? n

I think my point was that the head line suggests that Nama are in profit by €247 million , when they lost 6 times that amount last year. Misleading much? Why so many red down thumbs for pointing that anomaly out? Seanie, fingers and Bertie and the boys must be online today…

The only real important figure is the pre tax profit of €11,000,000 which is a start!!! Pre tax profit is due to tax credits from previous losses according to the last word on today fm
