A SEARCH RESUMES this morning for man who went missing while fishing on Valentia Island, Co Kerry yesterday.
A spokesperson for the Coast Guard at Valentia told TheJournal.ie this morning that the search is concentrating on an area around Culloo Head at the north of the island, where the man had been fishing.
“Conditions are good this morning, with good visibility and the wind isn’t too bad,” the spokesperson added.
The missing man was among a group of people who were fishing around Culloo Head late yesterday evening.They raised the alarm when he slipped into the water last night.

Weather and sea conditions on that part of the coast can whip up very quickly I pray they find the unfortunate person sheltered somewhere safe we have a brave and dedicated air and sea rescue service in this country but I hope I never have to rely on you
I lived on Valentia Island many years ago when I was a young fella. That particular part of the island is notoriously treacherous. While I was living there, a local youth club leader was swept away near the same spot. Hoping this man is found safe.
Lost my father 15 years ago this very week off that rock, I know the pain and anguish the mans family are facing, I will forever be grateful to the Valentia RNLI for their amazing work, their bravery and commitment is out of this world, RIP to this man, thoughts and prayers with his family
Very dangerous place to fish. I used to fish there before and it is a great spot for the makeral and pollack but extremely dangerous especially when the water is rough. Hopefully he is found safe and well.
