Army bomb disposal make safe a viable explosive device found in Tuam

Gardaí received the call shortly after 8am and have evacuated a number of people from their homes.

LAST UPDATE | 12 May 2021

THE ARMY BOMB disposal unit have made safe a viable explosive device found this morning in Co Galway.

Gardaí said they were called to a report of an “unexplained device” in Tuam this morning.

A garda spokesperson said a number of houses were evacuated in the area.

The army bomb disposal squad from Athlone attended the scene and have now made the device safe.

They have left the scene and removed what has been deemed to be a viable explosive device from the location.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Millstream Park or Weir Road in Tuam last night up to 8.30am this morning and who may have information to contact them at Tuam Garda Station on 093 70840.

Anyone who has video footage, including dashcam footage, in these areas which may be of assistance is asked to also contact Tuam Garda Station.

the judges and the legal profession have resisted this reform tooth and nail, leads me to think there must be something good in it, well done Ross, FG or FF would never have taken them on only for you had the balls to do challenge vested interests. new politics works, vote for the independents in the next GE to keep the main parties in line and prevent them running roughshod like the FF/Lab Govt 2011-2016, with scandals like Irish water etc
