Man dies after being taken from water in Dún Laoghaire

The man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A MAN HAS died after being recovered from the water in Dún Laoghaire, Dublin, yesterday evening.

Gardaí and emergency services attended and the man, who was in his 40s, was recovered from the water. He was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem is due to take place. Gardaí said investigations are ongoing but the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

    RIP.

    Would encourage everyone & anyone to get lifesaving/swimming/CPR lessons. Chances are you won’t have to use them, but could literally be life-saving for that one person who needs it. Even getting familiar with how to use a defibrillator (you can look online) is very worthwhile.

    So many lives lost to drowning this year. Very sad. People need to be aware of the dangers of swimming in the open sea or even more hazardous in lakes and rivers.

    @Paul O’Rourke: unfortunately numbers go up during good weather very sad RIP. Have seen people swimming in the sea when it is rough and big waves here in the South East.
