Their injuries are described as serious.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses after a serious assault incident in Carlow yesterday evening.

Just after 6.45pm, gardaí were called to an incident on the Barrow Track in Carlow town where two men were discovered with apparent stab wounds.

The men, aged in their 40s and 50s, were taken for treatment to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny.

Their injuries are described as serious.

A man in his 50s has since been arrested and detained at Carlow Garda Station. The scene has been preserved for forensic examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

They are especially looking to hear from anyone with video footage from the footpath at the Barrow Track at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Carlow Garda Station on 059 913 6620 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

@Teddy Bear: Not the time or place. Only bringing a bad name to yourself and unfortunatwly others along with you.

@Teddy Bear: Which shows it’s more about you than your disagreement with someone offering their prayers or actually calling out sanctimonious nonsense. There is a time and a place and if you do it on articles where people have been hurt or killed etc you will damage your cause. You should think it through.

@Mick Dunne: it is illegal to carry knifes in public without a reasonably excuse. Like needing them for work, farmer or carpet fitter or hobbies such as fishing.

@Tomás Barrett: also seems to be ok if you’re a teenager. They’ve had knives taken off them and simply sent on their way. Most bizarre example was that 30 teen gang brawl on millennium bridge at the start of the pandemic, the gardai arrested none of them, and took knives off some. All sent on their way.
