Possible contamination leads to water restrictions in Tipperary

Residents of Clonmel have been issued with a boil notice, while certain restrictions are still in place across Dublin as well.

AFTER A COMBINATION of power failures and severe weather, Clonmel Borough Council has become concerned that the area’s public water supply may be contaminated.

Affected regions are those served by the Poulavanogue water supply.

On the advice of the Health Service Executive, a temporary boil water notice has been issued across the town centre, Davis Road and Mountain Road areas.

Water should be boiled before being used for drinking, food preparation, teeth brushing and making ice. The council said it is unsure when the notice will be lifted.

Meanwhile, restrictions on water in a section of Coolock, county Dublin remain in place to protect public health.

Results from water samples taken early this week have showed improvement but more tests need to be carried out on samples this morning before any further decisions are made. Water can be used once it is boiled first, Dublin City Council advised residents of the affected Moatfield Road. This incident is not related to that which has impacted residents of Clontarf for over a week.

The problems with water in the St. Lawrence’s District Meter Area have been ongoing since last Monday, when residents in around 1,400 homes were told not to use their tap water. However, those living in the area have now been advised that they can use the supply once it is boiled first. More tests are due to be carried out in the coming days but restrictions remain in place, as do water tankers to provide extra water to households and businesses. They will be available at Castle Avenue and St Lawrence Road until 7.30pm.

Dublin City Council has confirmed that no E. Coli has been detected in any of the water samples tested to date, but that some of the samples have indicated the presence of Total Coliforms above the standards set out in the Water Supply Regulations.

Dublin water: Boil notice stills stands as disruption enters its second week>

Think about that for a moment, then think about yourself and what we have become as a people to allow it.

Says it all about the type of person who reads the journal these days. Finished reading the Sun and Heat magazine? Don’t forget to vote tomorrow lol

I don’t believe it’s a majority of fools – it’s a lack of any alternatives that’s the main issue. If the majority of the country decided not to vote tomorrow, this shower would still get in because the voters would still be left with very few options.

We know about Ireland’s competitiveness, thank you. Big multinational companies come in here and give employment and in return they receive very generous tax benefits and in some cases pay practically no tax here or in their country of origin. Then if they feel conditions are not right they up sticks and move where there’s either a better tax regime or cheaper labour or both. And, for your information, not all of us who read this article are Sun or Hello! readers.

The Sun and Heat? Saul it’s precisely because most of us don’t read those that were able to realize the difference between genuine political leadership and the kind of cute whoorism and lies that passes for it here in Ireland.
Some of the people on here are fundamentally irrational, they’ll vote no to indisputable facts, and a few more suffer from party tribalism where they can’t see anything other than their own parties perspective, sure.

But most of what you are seeing is just jaded cynicism because they’ve been lied to so much, were soooo past the whole friendly banter on the canvass trail thing…were years past that being something that will work. Real people are hurting in real serious situations because of the policies these people are putting through.
Theres people out there who can’t get a third level education because of the fees, or people stuck midstream who due to technicalitys can’t get grants and are locked out of the library for not paying.
Theres people out there who have serious ilnesses who have had their medical cards terminated for nonsense reasons.
Theres people out there seeing 52% of their income vanish and then they walk down their street and see people who never worked in their life DRINKING the money that vanished from their wages, with no time limits, caps or serious requirements on their dole.
Theres people out there who are genuine on SW who were not able to get a third level education and the only educational option they are offered is some half assed computer course where they’ve to sit in a room with people who are professional s-bags.
Theres people already stretched to the limit who voted labour on the hope of avoiding yet ANOTHER bill coming through their door for water who are angry that they were lied to.
…again I could go on and on. This is not 2004 where the biggest thing a voter had to worry about was were they getting 10 or 20 extra on the children’s allowance at the next budget, in that environment you might have had time for friendly banter on the LUAS line…today , post the 2011 lies and uturns and every party looking as bad as the others…it’s just not gonna work.

I AM one of those people you describe. I’m not entitled to a medical card. I am struggling to save to send my kids to college etc. I barely have a euro left in my pocket before pay day. I have missed mortgage payments.

The difference is I am not swayed by empty promises. I agree that our current government could have done better but I also firmly believe that nobody else was capable of digging us out of this hole. I for one believe that we need to see this through. Jumping ship now and supporting the likes of SF, who seem to think they have a magic wand to fix everything, would be simply foolish! This SF support is not real and you know it. They are the last choice.

Often wonder what Enda Kenny is pointing at and why. I had a friend at school who enjoyed this particular hobby. He would often face someone and then spontaneously point at nothing in particular whilst making a stupid face, only for the person to turn to look to where he was pointing and see nothing.

I suppose his handlers figure it’s probably best to pull on the string attached to his arm, it’s reliable and never fails. The strings they attach to his lips in an effort to mimic speech and cognition all to often make for unpredictable results.

I have to admit my interest was piqued just a little when I heard a samba band playing at the top of Grafton Street. When I spotted Comrade Gilmore and a troupe of Fine Gael’s Pet Labrador Party, it became clear that it was just a desperate and monumentally stupid election stunt.

Of course, it never rains but it pours, and lo and behold, there he was… our glorious leader, Chairman Mayo himself, again with an entourage, and doing their level best to impede the progress of those on their way to do real work that pays to keep our glorious leader and his various hangers on.

The only ones paying any attention to Inda, apart from those in his own party and a few from the Pet Labradors, were the assembled meeja, who, unsurprisingly, were also getting in the way of those on their way to do real work. Then again, there has always been a symbiotic and some would say almost incestuous relationship between the world of politics and that of the media.
