Quiz: How much do you know about cattle?

Moooooooooo, moooooooooooooooo.

THE SPOTLIGHT IS focused on Irish cattle right now.

Agriculture is part of the complex climate puzzle that Ireland now needs to solve as it seeks to bring emissions under control – and a big part of this is making farming more sustainable.

A recent The Journal/Ireland Thinks poll found that almost half of people believe the number of cattle in Ireland needs to be limited or reduced.

We’re not going to solve this today, so instead let’s look at the bovines at the centre of all this.

The quiz should be titled how little do the Journal know about cattle. Virtually all the questions prove this, one in particular is so obviously wrong it’s funny! While I appreciate some of the general articles on the Journal, I often admire the gall and gumption of some of the articles on aspects where there is little if any knowledge or even intelligent tapestry of cut and paste. Obviously there’s times where a story is needed at short notice but sometimes it’s obvious a day / two has been spent googling with zero understanding, incredible how erroneous it is and what’s more incredible is the level of agreement with it. If I was investing my money, I wouldn’t buy magic beans off a stranger, just like I wouldn’t believe random opinions on specialist subjects from journalist!

@This time its personable!: I’ve just clicked on the article in reference to this story! Might have been a suggestion to spend some of the European Money on some basic statistical awareness course before deciding to write stories on a poll! The quiz annoyed me, the referenced article, and the fact it was funded, has made me so annoyed I might even turn on Fox! I hope the European Union Fund sponsoring it don’t have some sort of quality checks on what they spend their ) our money on!

The Journal really don’t like farmers. They seem to have an article everyday ridiculing them.

@Nollaig Kelly: Easy to ignore the suffering of animals when youre on the top pf the food chain. Regular beef consumption can result in hardened arteries and bowel cancer. Good luck with that, ill stick to not eating them.
