AOIFE QUINN, THE daughter of Seán Quinn, has appeared on radio to speak about why an interview with the Irish Times’ Fintan O’ Toole has not taken place – and said that she does not have a professional PR advisor.

Quinn rang into the Right Hook show on Newstalk 106 – 108fm this evening after Fintan O’Toole spoke to Hook about his attempts to interview the Quinn family.

He said the family wanted to take issue with something that he had been writing, but that they would not offer to do an on-the-record interview.

However, Aoife Quinn rang in to the show to say that she had offered to do an on-the-record interview but said that O’Toole had wanted to see documents that she could not bring with her due to their volume.

PR campaign

O’Toole said the family have “a very sophisticated and very relentless PR campaign” and that it is “important that the public know what’s going on”.

Aoife Quinn said that the family have submitted court documents which range between 30 and 50 boxes in size. Quinn said it was “physically impossible to provide” O’Toole with the documents and it was a matter of court record and the documents are available.

She said that her husband Stephen Kelly contacted O’Toole and that they “do not have any media advisor”.

Quinn said they offered to meet people from Irish Times and offered to go on record with people from the paper, but O’Toole said that was not what he was offered, and that he was offered an off-the-record briefing.

PR advice

When asked by George Hook if she believed it was in her best interests to go on media shows without a PR advisor, Quinn said she “would love to have professional advice”.

Well George I would love to have professional advice; unfortunately Anglo Irish Bank have now appointed receivers over our personal assets. We had engaged a very reasonable PR advisor which was a fraction of the cost and I mean an absolute fraction, we paid our professional legal advisor €2,000 a month and Anglo Irish Bank have prevented us from spending our own money to pay this professional advisor. I would love one, of course I would love one.
