THE INVASION OF Ukraine continues this morning and fighting looks set to continue indefinitely.
Over two million people have now fled Ukraine, according to the UN. There has been a global outpouring of support for Ukraine with many charities collecting to give supplies to civilians in need.
This morning we want to know: Have you donated money to support Ukraine?

Would love to but I’m so weary which organizations are real and which ones are scams. I’d feel better donating food, clothes, etc. Shame that all the charity scandals that have happened previously have soured my view.

@The Supreme Being: Irish Red Cross seem to be genuine. That was my view as-well but the footage coming from Ukrainian made me take a chance.
@The Supreme Being: When I think of the money I gave to bothair through the years, I am reluctant to donate to any charity.
I feel a lot of people in Ireland are feeling the pinch too, and there is not much spare money about.
@The Supreme Being: average wage in Ukraine is only €400 euro so a small donation can make much more of an impact than it would in Ireland. Irish Red Cross from my brief checks seem to be legit.
@The Supreme Being: I feel the exact same way. Every charity I researched e.g. UNICEF, Red Cross etc, all have CEOs on €700000 + per year and some controversial dealings. It’s so hard. I’m thinking of volunteering in an aid centre or something instead.

@Mark Walsh: I’d say the Ukrainians are feeling the pinch a bit more. I have my own reservations about how charities are run and how many there are, but the Ukrainians needs trump that for me.

@Anna Carr: The Irish Red Cross Board of Directors are unpaid volunteers who receive no salary for their time given to the charity.
The Irish Red Cross Secretary General (CEO) currently receives an annual salary of €95,000.

@The Supreme Being: Agree totally with you & it’s sad that it’s come to that. However, somehow I felt that I have to have confidence in the Red Cross so I did it that way & felt reasonably happy. Tesco shops also make it easy to do so & I trust them to do the right thing. Likewise McCabe’s pharmacies. Good to see such things happening in the face of thug putin’s utter savagery.

@The Supreme Being: please see latest story on journal. They don’t need random clothes, they have specific needs that can probably be only delivered by aid workers on the ground.

@Trish O’Donnell: same here too Trish, but unfortunately I’ve stopped doing so as I’m bambarded with Christmas cards etc and each time if returned them costing more money. So any donations I’ve have made have been wiped out on postage, printing etc.

Donated food ,clothes toys and medical supplies. Loaded it on the back of a lorry driven to Moldovan boarder by local drivers. Wouldn’t trust charities with a board of directors with cash, Sorry to say.
Yes same here … Donated a couple of bags of clothes and toiletries to the red cross …
We booked an air bnb so the money went directly to the person, sent a note to say that we obviously won’t be staying but to keep the money. Air bnb have waved all their fees at the moment, so was a no brainer.
I donated vis Red Cross but have to say I am very wary of all these charities.

@Margaret Mcgarry: because the how much doesn’t matter. For some people who are living paycheck to paycheck €10 is just as valuable to them as a €100 would be to someone else. The fact they made donation of any amount is all that matters.

Yes, I gave to two charities and also to the 2 Scottish guys helping people get out of Ukraine.
The Tesco checkout asked me to add 1 Euro for Ukraine, which I did. However I will make a proper donation in the next few days, for humanitarian aid. I am opposed to any military escalation.

I don’t know how anyone can say “No”. Everyone should be donating something, no matter how small, every little counts.
Where is all their own money. The money the Ukraine makes from its natural resources is phenomenal.
This type of poll is never going to be properly reflective. Of course if you have donated you will only be delighted to share it and who is going to advertise they haven’t.. they are much more likely to not vote at all…I did actually vote no but I plan to remedy the situation in the coming days
