The Daily PollAMID CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING Elon Musk’s acquisition of a 9.2% stake in Twitter, the billionaire has now sought to buy the social media giant.
Musk offered $54.20 a share, which values the social media firm at $41 billion, in a filing dated 13 April with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
He said that since making his investment he realised the company will “neither thrive nor serve this societal imperative in its current form”.
“Twitter needs to be transformed as a private company,” he said.

Given that only a tiny minority of people from a given religion murder people and given that people from other religions murder people and, in fact, atheists and agnostics also sometimes murder people then it’s fairly clear that the issue is with the person and not the religion.

This whole “absolute free speech” rubbish. It’s the people who suffer the least harm wanting zero consequences when harming others. A removal of standards of decency, which people already feel removed from behind a keyboard. Nah. Hold the bullies to account when they pick on the vulnerable I say. Childhood bullies rarely grow up.

No strong feelings about Musk either way, but the slide towards curated, sanitised censorship of political speech on the mainstream internet since 2016 is heartbreaking to me, and anyone who wants to fight back against that has my support.
And before anyone jumps to any conclusions, I’m a lifelong leftist and I wholeheartedly disagree with almost every facet of social conservatism. But I don’t believe it’s right or healthy for democracy that social conservatives are no longer allowed to have a voice in the mainstream, and even though Twitter is just one platform it would be a good step in the right direction towards undoing the damage that the hysterical “silence anyone who advocates for the ‘wrong’ policy positions” crowd have done since one election and one referendum in 2016 didn’t produce the results those people wanted.

joys of the ‘free’ market. hand power over to the likes of musk. why dont all these billionaires relocate to the moon and give us all a break from their endless search for the latest novelty ‘product’ or experience. it must be a nightmare having that much money in a world where there is only so much anybody can purchase. What he should do is give every last cent away and then try living the lives of those who have made his money for him. Real novelty value/experience there. Meanwhile, democracy continues to be eroded by these people and the power they are allowed to wield (by democratically elected governments who seem to exist solely for the purposes of facilitating the likes of Musk, undermining democracy in the process
This man has so much money, and fair play to him. I hope he thinks about the good he could do in the world with just a fraction of it and act on it.

He’ll sell his share in a few weeks or less. As share prices have increased since he made this offer online – and considering an increase of 1% of his shares bought at $9 billion – he will come out of this $90 million richer by simply selling them back.
Another privilege of the super-rich, creating propaganda to inflate shares & then sell at a profit…
