SET ON THE grounds of one of Ireland’s most renowned five star hotels and golf resorts, Winterwood is a property that’s clearly been designed to impress.
Located on a private 3.4 acre site at Adare Manor, Co Limerick, this spectacular residence is on the market for €3.5 million through Sherry FitzGerald.

Winterwood itself was refurbished in 2013 and boasts a magnificent interior, with features including hand carved Brazilian mahogany doors, bespoke Waterford Crystal chandeliers, and marble floors.
Stepping inside, sweeping twin staircases and a triple height atrium set the tone for the sense of luxury and elegance throughout the rest of the house.
Winterwood is a property that’s made for hosting, with the dining room offering the space to comfortably seat at least 10 people. Both the sitting room and the dining room have solid wood floors and ornate fireplaces, while picture windows provide views of the gardens. For cosy evenings in, the family room is the ideal space to unwind.
The kitchen and breakfast room is show-stopping, with mint cabinets with gold detailing, a large centre island and high end appliances including a La Cornue range cooker. A utility room and pantry provide even more space. Also on the ground floor is a spacious gym, sauna and spa room, as well as a home office and library area.
Moving to the first floor, there are five bedrooms with en suite bathrooms here, while the remaining three bedrooms are on the second floor. Each of the bedrooms are incredibly spacious, and might leave you questioning whether you’re actually staying at the hotel across the grounds.
Completing the accommodation, the basement level is perfect for entertaining, with a wine cellar, games room and bar area here.
Outside, the grounds at Winterwood are magical. There are several patios and fountains throughout, as well as a BBQ for dining al fresco. Expansive lawns lead into a woodland, in which the previous owners planted three hundred new trees, while there’s also an orchard with a range of fruits.
If that’s not enough, Adare Manor itself offers fishing, archery, horse riding, a luxury spa and, not to forget, the championship golf course.
By no means an ordinary home, Winterwood offers an extraordinary retreat to be enjoyed by its lucky new owner.

€3.5M & no pool, home cinema, can’t see signs of a wired network ?
At least there is plenty of room to land a helicopter. Only way to beat the traffic in Adare.
I don’t like this house at all. Especially the outside which looks like a mid-range hotel. The size and placement of windows is visually off, and it neither emulated good historic architecture nor creates a style of its own. To me it’s an example of wealth poorly spent due to lack of taste, and involved either a poor architect or ‘poor architect!’ It is boring and depends for impact solely on size mattering.
If I was lucky enough to have that paper I certainly would not be spending it on a pile in Adare Ryder cup or not.
Not being picky, but I prefer a single stairs.
@Ger Buckley: cost a bloody fortune putting a chairlift on that stairs. Plus it only hosts 10? So if you have 11 friends this isn’t for you. I’ve had 16 in a 3 bed semi-D in my dining room for Cmas dinner.
Not enough chandeliers for my liking. No mention of any Styra attic folding stairs either.

It is a lovely home, spacious, lovely kitchen but is it worth 3.5m, I don’t think so and for that sum you could build a very substantial house with an enclosed pool and indoor/outdoor entertainment area. Each to his own.
Would be like living in Courtown with all the tourists looking in your windows. Dreadful Kip.
