The Daily PollU2 FRONTMAN BONO is to publish his memoir, Surrender, this November.
It will be the first time the musician has written in detail about his own life, from his early days in north Dublin to U2’s success worldwide, as well as his charitable work.
The book’s subtitle – 40 Songs, One Story – is a reference to its 40 chapters, each of which are named after a U2 song. The singer has also created 40 original drawings for the memoir.
Bono this week said: “Surrender is a word freighted with meaning for me. Growing up in Ireland in the seventies with my fists up (musically speaking), it was not a natural concept.”
The book “is the story of one pilgrim’s lack of progress … With a fair amount of fun along the way”, he added.

It’s probably bad and I’ve no desire to read it to be honest. It’s bound to be a lemon, so it’s one I’ll give a miss but you never know I may change my mind, the world moves in mysterious ways, with or without you.
Anyway I’m off out, to enjoy the beautiful day. Although the weather not giving the best for Sunday, typical, Sunday bloody Sunday.

It’s odd how so many troll Bono but then almost all who’ve met him, me included, have nothing but positive memories of him.

Will be interesting to see how he explains away what they did to Negativland. Never listened to them after that.
@alan: Negativland sampled U2′s work without clearing the samples, insulted the band, and then cynically tried to package the record in a way that would confuse U2 fans.

@alan: If you know so much about the story then you should know that Island Records and SST Records sued Negativland, not U2.
Negativland did not clear the samples. This is against the law. Are you disputing this?

The guys in U2 had nothing to do with it.

I’m interested in seeing how much he touches on when he went to work in the orphanage in Ethiopia for a month or two. He still speaks of how much it effected him, often getting upset, sometimes refusing to go into too much detail. It seems to be the start of the activism taking centre stage, which indirectly started off a lot of people’s disdain for him.
If everybody who claims to have seen them live for 50p in the old Dandelion Market buys a copy it will definitely be a best seller. More people than in the GPO on 1916!
I’ll read a few reviews, but won’t buy the book.
