THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE have taken part in a march through Belfast to seek the “immediate implementation” of an Irish Language Act.
The event was organised by An Dream Dearg and saw participants march from Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich to Belfast City Hall.
The provision of an Irish Language Act was a key component of the New Decade, New Approach deal which restored the government of the Northern Ireland Executive after a three-year hiatus.
This has not been implemented to date, but the Northern Ireland Office has said it will introduce an Identity and Language Bill as part of its legislative programme for the next parliamentary session.
The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Brandon Lewis MP, says the Bill will “also recognise and celebrate Northern Ireland’s rich heritage with a balanced package of identity and culture measures previously agreed by the Northern Ireland parties”.
However, Conchúr Ó Muadaigh, spokesperson for An Dream Dearg, told today’s rally: “It is time for the British Government, the DUP and others with power and influence to end their decades-long veto and obstruction of Irish language rights.”

He added that “the Irish language Act is long overdue and our community cannot be made to wait any longer for the same language rights enjoyed by citizens across these islands”.

Yes, Tianhe-2 is the fastest, it took no. 1 spot in June 2013.

That’s actually a great film!! It was based on a book which had a sequel. But they never made a sequel to a film . I think in the book sequel aliens come and they need to get the computer back up and running to defend the planet …. Actually its prob better they left it at the first film !!

Amazing how far it’s come. I just built a pc put 24gb ram in as well as very solid i5 plus a 6gb titan card. The funny thing is its more powerful then every computer from the 90s on earth combined.
Remember war games and the whopper computer running on magnetic tape :p. He’ll I remember floppy disks my first home pc had about 800mb hd in it. Them were the days where now 6gigs ain’t even enough
China take the Crown with Tianhe-2 at 33.86 and the sequoia has achieved 17.17 both are wrong in this list
I don’t believe in global warming but I do believe in scientific grants to study it, and this money shows up in super computers and the scientists required to run them.
