Cocktails on the patio? Be the host with the most in leafy Cabinteely for €1.5m

It’s all about the patio and kitchen in this reimagined 1960s four-bed in Dublin 18.

WHOEVER BUYS THIS four-bed in Cabinteely will, no doubt, need to brush up on their hosting skills. With a state-of-the-art kitchen that leads to an extremely charming patio at 12m long, Journey’s End is sure to be the first place that comes to mind when choosing a venue for big family gatherings.

Sitting on a third of an acre with a garden and the aforementioned patio facing southwest, there’s ample opportunity to extend any which way if 248 m² just won’t cut it, too.

It’s a case of business at the front and party at the back for this 1960s home – the front and side has formal arched entryways that face the front lawn and a gravelled area for parking up to four cars, while the impressive social space to the rear of the house has been modernised to bring freshness and more natural light inside.

Originally three separate rooms, now a huge glass wall opens directly from this area to the back garden. If some of your first thoughts are about the glare and overheating, fear not – the space is protected from the sun by a remote control sunshade and window blinds.

This kitchen comes complete with a range of top-end appliances. Keen cooks and those who love to entertain will delight in the Neff induction hob and self-cleaning oven, as well as the Quooker hot water tap.

Hardwearing quartz counter tops and a splashback, loads of storage, a wine rack and an American-style fridge-freezer ensure that this is a functional and long-lasting space that would be a joy to spend time in.

This home’s most enticing feature has to be the Egyptian limestone patio. It faces the 35 metre long and sunny back garden that can be enjoyed all year arounds thanks to the remote controlled louvered roof pergola and retractable shade.

The kitchen isn’t the only area that has access to the outdoors, however. The smaller, cosier rooms to the front of the house all have French doors that open through the arches of the portico.

These include a big drawing room with a wood-burning stove, as well as what’s currently an artist’s studio. It was one of the four bright bedrooms previous to this.

Upstairs sits three large bedrooms, two of which share the family bathroom. There’s also a study on this floor that’s ideal for remote working.

The main bedroom has a roomy walk-in-wardrobe, as well as an en suite bathroom and a large window that fills the space with light.

Privacy and space abound in this Dublin home as it’s located on a quiet cul-de-sac and away from the road. A handy walkway leads to a bus stop that will bring you to the city centre in half an hour.

As soon as you step inside Journey’s End, it’s clear that the current owners had the right professionals on board when it came to the remodelling of this home.

Under the direction of Dublin-based firm, Keenan-Lynch Architects and with the supervision of a structural engineer, they have managed to blend the new with the old to create a modernised family home that hasn’t lost its original charm.

Journey’s End, 118 Shrewsbury Lawn, Cabinteely, Dublin 18 is on the market for €1,500,000 Casey Kennedy Estate Agents.

Millions of people living under a savage military occupation soon to be in its fifty sixth year, civilians, women and children killed on a nearly daily basis, thousands imprisoned without trial or ‘charged’ with secret evidence, hundreds of thousands of heavily armed fanatical colonists transferred by their government onto stolen lands, a war crime under the Geneva conventions, homes and schools of the indigenous population demolished, different legal systems based on religion. Visitors to the West Bank now have to inform the Occupation forces of any romantic involvement with West Bank residents within three months, Arabs only of course. Israel is an Apartheid state.

@Gavan Duffy: you make it sound like there’s only one side to this conflict. If that were the case it would be the only conflict in history with only one side.

@Aidy McBride: Apartheid is one sided, by definition. And the points of fact that Gavin has made, are plain to see for anyone who cares to look at a map…

@Aidy McBride: This is not a conflict, it is an occupation and creeping colonisation of a third world country by a nuclear armed regional superpower, flush with 3.8 billion in annual pay to slay military funding. It is no more a conflict than any of the other one sided colonial wars in history.

@Gavan Duffy: so who is killing the Israeli civilians then? Why took the 17 year old fella off his life support machine?

@Aidy McBride: The deaths of Israeli civilians, and the thousands more Palestinian civilians, lies firmly with their own government and their decades long policy of Apartheid and colonisation. You seem to think the incident you mention is some sort of outlier, unfortunately for the Palestinians it is not, as I have said the Israeli occupation forces are currently withholding the bodies of 350 of their Palestinian victims, and routinely deny their victims access to medical assistance after they have been shot by Israeli occupation forces, they never make it to life support, let alone get taken off it. Apartheid is a crime not a conflict.

3 of the top 4 articles on TJ not open for comments, curiously including one on assylum seekers.

Without a doubt the best thing about the TJ and the 42 are the comments sections which makes the decision to put the 42 behind a paywall all the more curious.

Not that it makes any difference to me given I havn’t been able to post a comment on the 42 for about 4 years now.
