Boris 'the greased piglet' is 'on the brink': Here's what the UK papers look like this morning

Time appears to be running out for Boris Johnson.

YESTERDAY MARKED WHAT appears to be the beginning of the end for UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Rishi Sunak quit as chancellor and Sajid Javid resigned as health secretary shortly after 6pm yesterday.

The resignations came after Johnson was forced into a humiliating apology over his handling of the Chris Pincher row after it emerged he had forgotten about being told of previous allegations of “inappropriate” conduct by the former deputy chief whip.

Sunak and Javid announced they were stepping down from their ministerial posts in separate statements, released within minutes of each other, shortly after 6pm yesterday evening.

The British papers all lead with the fresh crisis faced by Johnson.

The Guardian, The Times and The Sun all report that Johnson is “on the brink”…

The Daily Telegraph, Metro and i lead with a series of further Government resignations heaping more pressure on Johnson…

The Daily Mirror revels in the developments with the headline “Finally”, while the Daily Express says the PM is fighting on with a vow to cut taxes.

And the Daily Mail questions if Mr Johnson can “wriggle out” of this latest crisis…

Brexit has been an unmitigated disaster for the UK no alternative markets have emerged and the economy is plummeting! Boris did this so himself and his mates could make money but it’s not working! He doesn’t care about the ordinary people and with food banks and no work they will be back to Victorian lifestyles

@PamelaArchitect: What makes you so sure it’s not working? The interesting questions are if it is working then who is it working for and how, where is the money going and who is hiding it.
Now think about British overseas territories and their banking practices.

If (when) he’s goes soon the lying, self-serving, amoral, incompetent dullard will have served less time than May. Not that his replacement is likely to be much of an improvement but they’ll probably command less popular support with the base and see an even bigger Tory defeat come the next election.

@Seamus Quaide: Oh I’m sure there are many honest dedicated people in the party membership. But yes that which rises to the top on the old school tie ticket is not the cream.
