WhatsApp begins rolling out Communities feature to bundle together group chats

It will be available globally in the next few months, WhatsApp has said.

A WHATSAPP FEATURE that enables users to bundle several group chats together under the umbrella of a single topic and share updates across them all has gone live in some countries.

WhatsApp has said they’ve begun the roll out of Communities globally and it will be available to everyone over the next few months.

First announced earlier this year and in testing since then, the Communities feature will allow users to organise different group chats together under a single main topic, for example, their children’s school or the street they live on, with Community admins able to share messages with people across all groups.

The feature is being rolled out as part of an update that will also allow users to create and take part in polls with their chats.

In addition, group video calling will now support up to 32 participants.

“With Communities, we’re aiming to raise the bar for how organisations communicate with a level of privacy and security not found anywhere else,” WhatsApp said in a blog post announcing the rollout.

“The alternatives available today require trusting apps or software companies with a copy of their messages – and we think they deserve the higher level of security provided by end-to-end encryption.

“Once you’re in a community, you can easily switch between available groups to get the information you need, when you need it, and admins can send important updates to everyone in the Community.”

Mark Zuckerberg, the head of WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, said: “Today we’re launching Communities on WhatsApp.

“It makes groups better by enabling sub-groups, multiple threads, announcement channels, and more.

“We’re also rolling out polls and 32-person video calling too. All secured by end-to-end encryption so your messages stay private.”

That man was a true legend. A real movie star who ate up the screen. Made a number of movies in Ireland and was never less than a real talent. Never really hit the heights but he was still cool enough to do a turn for Tarantino in Inglorious B*stards a couple of years ago. Could have watched him in anything.

I’d say the time machine would be one of his best performances when he has to face the morlocks. When I was a child they frightened the life out of me and gave me terrible nightmares. I look at the film now and laugh at how badly they look.

‘The Time Machine’ was my own favourite.
Remember when He was on the late late show with Oliver Reed, & Gay Byrne goaded the two of them into arm wrestling on the studio floor….??

Yeah, – like the night Oliver Reed was trying to get the leg over Susan George.

A great old-style actor who never quite achieved the success and accolades he deserved. The Time Machine is one of my favourite films head and shoulders above the more recent remake.

The Time Machine is a movie ill always watch when its on telly, he was excellent in it. Don’t know why that descendant of H.G Wells had such a problem with it, probably more loyal to the book than his noughties version was
