PSNI ANTI-TERROR investigators have arrested a fourth man in relation to a bomb attack on two police officers.
Two constables on patrol were attacked in the Mount Carmel Heights area of Strabane, Co Tyrone, on Thursday night.
The officers were not injured but their police vehicle was damaged in what police have called an “attempted murder”.
There has been widespread condemnation of the attack from both sides of the border.
A Police spokesperson said that attackers used an Improvised Explosive Device.
Three men, aged, 36, 36 and 28 were arrested and been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station earlier today.
A fourth man was arrested this afternoon by detectives from Terrorism Investigation Unit.
The attempted murder investigation continues and the PSNI are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
Justice Minister Helen McEntee condemned the attack this afternoon, calling it an “appalling act”.
“It just reminds us really that there are people out there who don’t believe in reaching an overall objective or goal by peaceful means and we have to push back and we have to reject that at every chance possible.
“We need to make sure that there’s justice for those two officers who were targeted and obviously where An Garda Síochána can work with and support the PSNI, we will do.”
