The Daily PollNEW RESEARCH HAS found that the majority of Irish retail workers are earning less than a living wage.
According to the Mandate Trade Union, that nearly two-thirds of Irish retail staff are earning less than €451 per week, falling short of the living wage standard of just over €500.
While hourly wages are increasing, the majority of workers weren’t working enough hours to earn above the living wage, with the trade union saying many are not given the opportunity to work sufficient hours.
Many people have experienced working in the industry, whether as a full-time career or on a temporary basis.

Just because people are married doesn’t mean they are happily married. Relationships break down and people move on. Not everyone runs straight to the divorce courts. They look very happy together and this is an intrusion into there lives. Some pretty sad comments in here from people who would never cheat if they got the chance…..ye right!

On the other hand – it is proper garish, obnoxious, and highly intrusive for cameras in any and EVERY context, to film people without their consent and then, FAR WORSE – to PUBLICLY PUBLISH AND BROADCAST Private Citizens **without their consent.**
Why should such consent be assumed or implied by the purchase of a ticket or the entry into a privately owned venue?
It shouldn’t.
Whether it is YouTubers *presuming* an entitlement to film and *internationally* publish Private Citizens going about their business on a public street, or in a tourist location (like indoors in Guinness), or indeed YouTubers who presume some kind of an entitlement to conduct Malicious and intimidatory online voyeuristic-type video STALKING of individuals or groups-by-gender/groups-by-race (with threat of aggression against the target clearly implied by the deviant [and Criminal!] behaviour!) . . . . . . .or a Band presuming an entitlement to film AND instantaneously publish Private persons at their gigs
(even though, yes, we know it it supposed to facilitate the sense of closeness and inclusion of and for the audience into the gig and raise the atmosphere. And yes, probably, that is something that should not come to an end either. Certainly not as a consequence of 2 selfish individuals caught with their knickers down, who failed or refused to release a 3rd party from a legally-bound relationship).
Generally though – the filming of Private Citizens, even in Public spaces, needs to brought to a crashing halt with legislation.
You can’t be comfortable in your own City, or your Local Town anymore. You never know what camera phone is or is not on you or not – in someone’s far background (or a stalkers’ foreground!).
It’s proper creepy.
Plus, very un-Irish.
We had enough years of the curtain twitchers and oule Biddies who went out of their way to know your business AND spread it up and down the Country (and as far away as Australia or America, indeed) to anyone in the County’s Diaspora who would listen.
