Man due in court following seizure of €1.1 million worth of cannabis in Co Kildare

He is due to appear before Naas District Court at 10.30am today.

 A MAN HAS been charged following the seizure of an estimated €1.1 million worth of herbal cannabis during a raid in Co Kildare yesterday. 

The seizure of the approximately 55kg worth of cannabis was made as part of an intelligence led operation targeting people suspected to be involved in an organised crime group operating in the Kildare area.

It was a joint operation between the Revenue Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB).

One man, aged 43, was arrested yesterday and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a garda station in Co Kildare.

Gardaí have now charged the arrested man. 

He is due to appear before Naas District Court at 10.30am today.
