After 40 days of Lent, many people around the country will be cracking open a chocolate Easter egg – or two – that they may have received from family or friends.
With so many to choose from, everyone will have their own personal favourite brand of chocolate. But which one do you think is the best?

Lindt, followed by Nestle. Cadbury has been muck since it was taken over by Kraft/Mondolez.
@Jonathan McCoy: most are all muck since they started using palm oil/shea as an ingredient. Gone are the days when you had an actual bite of chocolate

Have you tasted Butlers? Seriously delicious chocolate – especially the Easter egg…its a much thicker shell …much more satisfying.
Cadbury used to be nice years ago, but now its muck
@Martin Bishop: I’m thinking out loud but was it always muck but as we got older and tasted more types we realised it was muck by comparison / tastebuds getting more refined. As a youngster it was amazing though.

Dark chocolate is where it’s at – 70% is the sweet spot

Lindt Hazelnut is really nice. Cadbury ruined the purple snacks that used to crave. Lame. I think there is less fat in them now.

Cadbury’s? Technically, it isn’t even chocolate!
Carbury is massively overrated.
Our own Irish chocolate brands, Butlers and Lily O’Brien are vastly superior, as is Lir (but that’s not on the list).
However, the ultimate is Lindt.
There isn’t a Lindt flavour that’s not bad.

Hershey’s wasn’t mentioned in that poll. Chocolate tasted lovely years ago, not the same now. I’m in my late 50s and have noticed loads of foods tasting totally different these days. Must be different ingredients

If you think Cadburys is bad in Ireland, ours in USA has an extra added ingredient, so nasty they won’t even spell it out on the label. PGPR .. Google it, you’ll be surprised what the R stands for.

@Madra: Maybe years ago, but Cadburys chocolate is no longer nice – the substitution of soya milk for the “glass & a half” of milk (notice how they’ve had to drop that slogan) has its flavour and texture destroyed.
@Madra: Cadbury used to have a slightly bitter taste that was yum. Now it’s sickly sweet. Mondelez has ruined it.

Cadburys is by far the worst chocolate I have tried. Full of sugar and ridiculous flavours!!
I see Urney’s chocolate is back on sale.
The only correct answer is Lindt – It’s in a completely different league to all the others. It’s proper quality chocolate.
Cadbury 8 Square from coolock is yum but the bigger bars they make elsewhere are very poor.
Hershey’s! – not easily available here though.

Someone gave me a box and it was memorable. Recommended. Very silky but not too sugary.
