The website of Syrian news agency SANA said earlier news was "categorically baseless". SANA

Syria: 'We didn't sack our ambassador - someone hacked our email'

The State news agency SANA also says someone had hacked its Facebook account.

SYRIA’S MINISTRY OF INFORMATION has denied the sacking of the country’s ambassador to Lebanon – and said a previous email, announcing the departure, was a result of hacking.

“The email account of the ministry was hacked in order to publish inaccurate information” about the reported dismissal of the Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali, the ministry said in a statement carried by state television.

The ministry said it “denounces this piracy” and confirmed that “Ambassador Ali is still in his post in Lebanon, and the announcement of his dismissal is baseless.”

Syrian official news agency SANA also said that its Facebook page had been hacked.

“As part of an aggressive campaign against our national media, hostile parties have hacked the SANA Facebook page,” the agency said, adding that it had no links with the contents of the page, which it was working to deactivate.

In late August, SANA said a fake email was sent on its behalf announcing the dismissal of Vice President Faruq al-Shara.

Poor Syria. Has been under military attack for over a year by countries.
It would not surprise me if it was the US who hacked.
Which would be funny because the US has said that if any country that hacks any of its systems it will immediately be seen as an act of war. Yet the US hacks systems all over the world and sees no problem with it.

Spare a thought for the 100,000 Syrian refugees in turkey because Assad doesn’t care or will not protect them!

The vast majority of those refugees are there Declan because the so called rebels are commiting terrible war crimes on civilians and they fear for their lives and those of their children. Syria is trying to defeat these terrorists and armed thugs.
These rebels are killing farmers for harvesting crops, government workers and blockading entire villages and towns and starving people to death.

It is not possible to access the SANA website through Chrome. Surely a form of censorship? Oh sshhh Google create jobs here so we should say nothing!
