IRELAND’S MOST INTREPID traveller Hector Ó hEochagáin is once again returning to our screens on Thursday, 7 September at 9.30pm with another of his unmissable travel shows on TG4.

Fresh off discovering the delights and diversity of the Baltic states, Hector is heading even further east as he ticks off a host of countries in south-east Asia from his bucket list in Hector Ó na Philippines go dtí na Solomons.

The adventurer, banter-er and mischief maker in chief is primed for another set of adventures as he passes from The Philippines into Malaysia and Singapore, then across the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali before crossing into the Pacific islands of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

Whether you’re a fan of Hector’s previous travel programmes, an avid fan of the Tommy, Hector & Laurita podcast, or even just love watching travel shows, Hector Ó na Philippines go dtí na Solomons promises to be highly entertaining and informative TV.

Kicking off in The Philippines, Hector creates his very own “Thrilla in Manila” as he checks out the fascinating world of Filipino boxing with “The King’s Warrior“ Charly Suarez before moving onto investigating the multi million dollar world of cockfighting. He also dives headfirst into the rich Filipino culture, from cruising the streets in his very own jeepney to witnessing grand weddings of over 100 people. He spends time with the pushcart educators on the street of the city and decides to create a balikbayan box to send back to a Filippino lady in Sallynoggin.

Episode two will see Hector land among the skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur where he’ll combine urban landscapes and rural lifestyles, beginning with a graffiti artist and the female chairperson of a football team nestled beneath two skyscrapers. Before moving onto exploring the paddyfields and chatting about rice, meeting some songbirds and going deep into a remote rural jungle village and meeting the locals.

As we move into episode three, Hector will find himself in the city-state of Singapore where he’s left stunned by the staggering financial cost of buying real-estate. He’ll also pick up some street food, but not as you’ve ever seen it before, as he visits the only food stall in the world awarded a prestigious Michelin Star. Finally, Hector will visit the only heavy metal store in Singapore before looking at one of the world’s leading nurseries for table tennis stars.

For the rest of the series, we’ll see Hector jumping off to the islands of Indonesia and crossing into the Pacific islands of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Knowing Hector, he’ll meet some brilliant and eccentric characters along the way in what is a series not to be missed.
