A STATUS YELLOW rain warning has been issued for 11 counties today, while wind warnings are in place in for two.
Areas affected may include Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Donegal, and Connacht.
Met Éireann says these counties can expect heavy and persistent spells of rain, at times giving totals of 30 to 60mm, locally higher on hills.
The rain will ease off for a while in many parts during the afternoon today, before heavy spells of rain return this evening and tonight.
Localised flooding is possible, with Met Éireann warning of dangerous driving conditions.
Kerry and West Galway have also been issued a status yellow wind warning.

Ideally one should have a residence in each of the provinces to avoid having to wear plastic trousers and galoshes.
Let’s unblock drains on streets and ban building houses on flood plains. And reserve the warnings for real adverse events instead of “potential” events as there is always potential for floods, fallen trees, and debris. The media sensationalise these weather events and others like the rise in migration numberswith the latest buzz words reminiscent of the ones from the pandemic, surge being one in point. I’m not pro or anti climate change or immigration just the rhetoric around reporting them.
Get the buckets out because when one sunny day comes whenever that will be there will be a water shortage announcement
Would the Environmental Agency test rivers in 30/40 places around Ireland in dry weather and again during or after heavy rain, so we could make comparisons as to how much nitrates etc are polluting our rivers. Or even get schools to do it as part of the science curriculum. Then we could start making improvements.
