Smoke coming from the car park, off Jervis Street in Dublin City. Dublin Fire Brigade

Fire engines released from scene as car park fire brought under control in Dublin City

It is understood a tram that was close to the incident had to be evacuated.

LAST UPDATE | 13 Oct 2023

A CAR PARK fire off of Jervis Street in Dublin City has been brought under control by the Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) after services responded to the scene earlier this evening.

Red line Luas services have also resumed, with significant delays, after the fire service had to close access to Jervis Street for fire operations.

“The fire has now been brought under control and we have started to release fire engines from the scene,” DFB said on X, formerly Twitter, this evening.

“Red line passengers please be advised that a full service is now operating on the line, Point to Tallaght /Saggart with severe delays following an earlier disruption at Jervis,” the service said on X.

According to a post from Dublin Fire Brigade on X, the fire took place inside a car park off of Jervis Street in the city centre.

“Smoke is visible in the area but firefighters in breathing apparatus are on scene dealing with the incident,” the service posted online.

Jervis Street was closed to allow the fire service carry out its operations.

Luas Red Line services are paused earlier, with all services between Smithfield and The Point cancelled, it said on X.

“This is due to a non Luas related incident at Jervis. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” it added.

It is understood a tram, that was close to the incident, had to be evacuated earlier.

Great comment there..Mr/Mrs anonymous account. Please list 5 major car park fires caused by ICE vehicles in the last 5 years. I can give you 3 major EV fires in the last five weeks and a ferry fire that sank the ferry and its cargo of toxic batteries in to the sea. Give me a break, EV’s and BEV’s are a total joke and dangerous. Go an watch an EV explode multiple times after crashing. Catch yourself on there, use the internet and look at the pro’s and cons.

@Dave F Sov: diesel is far safer, will not ignite by impact sparks or flames, until very high temperatures.

Just as well they’d never let you build an underground car park under the world’s most expensive children’s hospital.

    Somebody wants to spread anarchy.
Whatever we might have done in the past so be it, can’t turn back the clock. Europeans need to grow a pair. Those who want a revolution have no idea what to do after.
So we are where we are.
And will stay there until what I dont know anymore ..
