Live crib at Mansion House in 2019 Sam Boal via RollingNews.ie

Poll: Should the live crib at Mansion House go ahead?

The festive city-centre tradition returns after a one-year hiatus due to animal welfare concerns.

ANIMALS WILL RETURN to the Mansion House live crib this Christmas, and visitors will be able to line up to see donkeys, goats and much more in the heart of Dublin City.

The festive tradition run in partnership with the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) is returning after a one-year hiatus due to animal welfare concerns.

Lord Mayor Dáithí de Róiste hopes the crib can be used as an opportunity to educate visitors about animals and their care.

The move is likely to drum up renewed criticism, while other Dubliners will welcome the return of a nostalgic Christmas outing.

Today we’re asking you: Should the live crib return to Mansion House?

Poll Results:

Yes (7344)

Catherine Murphy would be an excellent choice, a woman who has always stood for what is fair and just despite the best efforts of DOB’s lawyers to silence her.

@Rochelle: I like her, she’s a great TD, but she would be wasted in that position.

@Connoroconner: I agree, I think she’d better serve the people as a normal TD.

If it is one of the usual FF/FG gang, it will further indicate nothing much is really changing.

    Go Catherine!

@Unitedpeople: not really though: if a FF/FG coalition wanted to keep a comfortable majority they wouldn’t allow one of their own to go for it. Of course SDs might be part of a coalition with them by then , so you’d never know. I’d prefer if she stayed as a TD she is one of the best we have.

I sincerely hope the Ceann Comhairle comes from FF, that would further even out the numbers between the big three parties. Losing an independent or SocDem TD to the C.C position would further strengthen any potential FF or FG led coalition which might emerge.

It’s a great job and a safe seat next election as you are automatically re-elected a TD. Handy if there’s another election ahead
