The Daily PollPATRICK KIELTY, THE new host of The Late Late Show, hosted his first Toy Show last night.
The programme featured the usual outstanding performances from children, who were singing, dancing and reminding Keilty that it was their first Toy Show too.
Our reporter Carl Kinsella wrapped the show and its highlights in three words: “WB Yeats, mullets and Chaos Emeralds”.

Hats off to Patrick on his 1st toy show. Was a fabulous success. Very entertaining with and tears shed with the 2 big surprises of family returning from Australia and the little girl brought to the show and getting her holiday to Disney world in Florida.
@9213caroline: its not patrick that makes all that happen No more than when Ryan was doing the show which also had people coming home as a big surprize for their family & a trip to a special little child it always happened Good luck to Patrick & good luck to Ryan

Enjoyed it for the first time in a long time…its easy to see he has young children himself because he didn’t rush them around the place he let the children play
@and the hit’s just keep coming: Exactly my thoughts. Tubridy was decent but rushed the kids all night. Kielty, as you say, let the kids enjoy themselves and it wasn’t all about him.
@David Burns: turbity was ok in later years but early shows it seemed like turbitty was off his head on marching powder. Kielty was good from the get go – he much more natural and he let the kids be themselves

Best toy show in a long time, Patrick Kielty made it all about the kids & let them chat away no rushing! He was a breath of fresh air
Really enjoyed it. Little one fell asleep about 11, but we kept watching until the end.

The Toy Show perpetuates class division by giving expensive presents to well connected Montrose posh kids while thousands of kids from the wrong Postcode languish in drug infested homeless shelters with no prospect of any future and no toys because they cannot afford them.
Hopefully some day we’ll have an egalitarian society where all kids will be cherished equally not just those privileged ones.

Luckily I was never brought up on the madness of RTE and I got to live a normal childhood without having talkspeak constantly tell me how to live my life. So many unhappy and hateful people in Ireland at the moment and RTE has played a huge role in this.

I’m not Irish but I think people over examine what is just a bit of fun. Just enjoy it for what it is without the analysis.
