Obama mocks his own debate fiasco

The US president took a shot at his own performance against Mitt Romney (in a very backhanded fashion).

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA appeared to take a shot Sunday night at his debate performance against Republican Mitt Romney last week.

Per the White House transcript, here’s what he told a crowd at a Los Angeles fundraiser, after a show that featured Jennifer Hudson, Bon Jovi, Katy Perry, Stevie Wonder, and Earth, Wind and Fire:

These guys — and everybody here are just incredible professionals. They’re such great friends, and they just perform flawlessly night after night. I can’t always say the same. But here’s the good news, is we’ve got a better vision for our country. We have a better plan for the next four years. And that’s why we’re here tonight.

It was Obama’s most candid acknowledgment of what pundits and voters on both sides have said after last Wednesday’s debate — that Romney trounced Obama.

At the fundraiser, Obama also acknowledged that he “goofed up” in the 2008 campaign, noting that the mistakes didn’t come back to haunt him. And he got a dig at Romney in there, too:

“Back in 2008 – everybody always remembers the victory, but they don’t always remember the bumps in the road. Things always look good in retrospect. But in the middle of it, we were – we made all kinds of mistakes. We goofed up. I goofed up. But the American people carried us forward. And even with all the things we had going for us – all the way that things just kind of converged, 47 percent of the country still didn’t vote for me. I just want to point that out.”

Some interesting facts about US presidential nominee……..

Romney believes that God created multiple worlds and each world has people living on it. They also believe that multiple Gods exist but each has their own universe. We are only subject to our God and if we obtain the highest level of heaven we can become gods ourselves.
Romney believes that you can be forgiven for any sin, save two. First, denying the Holy Spirit, and second, murder. Also, God is infinitely forgiving, until the second coming. After that, you end up where you end up, no matter what. There are no second chances. Period.

Romney believes that there are three heavens: the Celestial Kingdom, Terrestrial Kingdom, and Telestial Kingdom. The Celestial is the highest, where God and the ones who followed his law reside. The Terrestrial is the middle, where people who followed the Law of Moses reside. The Telestial is the lowest, where the ones who followed carnal law reside.

Romney believes that any worthy male can be given the priesthood and is given specific duties. Black people were not allowed to have the priesthood until 1978 (when god apearently had a change of heart). Women are not allowed to have the priesthood (not much different to Catholics there)

The Book of Mormon is a book of LDS scripture that takes place during the same time as the Bible and takes place on the American continent. It follows the stories of two tribes who descended from the family of Lehi. After Jesus’ resurrection LDS people believe he visited the peoples of the Americas.

I am almost afraid to open a can of worms as, although and atheist myself, I feel within reason that everyone is entitled to their own religious views. Until they go all fundamentalist. Then all bets are off as far as criticism is concerned. But this mormon stuff sounds even more ridiculous than the good old catholic stuff I was brought up on. Jesus allah buddha, do we want this guy with his finger on the button…..

I had a conversation about this with someone today, we can safely mock Romney and his crazy religous views, that Congressman who believed evloution was a lie because it said so in the bible, the Catholic church has been ridiculed for decades, it isn’t a problem, we’re fine doing this, Christians around the world generally don’t tend to get too upset about it. But say one word against Islam and all bets are off.

@Rustyballs – the problem isn’t their beliefs. People are entitled to those. It’s the mindset of the believer that I have the problem with. Do you really want someone running the country who is so unquestioning of reality that they will accept ridiculous nonsense as the truth.

Me, I’d prefer and open enquiring mind…..

Good to see how he responded, when questioned for the first time, by non liberal media. RTE still not recovering from the shock. Come on Romney. Throw him out of White House and return to proper Republican resident.

Obama sat in a church with rev. Wright spouting his vile sermons every Sunday ,but in the white liberals mind he gets a pass, because it would be racist to call him out on it.

Paul, absolutely correct. But Obama, even if he believed the same as Romney, would have the savvy to know what to say in public and what to to pray for in private. Maybe that just makes him cuter than Romney. Anyway, dont get me started on the political correctness (gone mad) of the colour issue in general…. just look at the Terry / Ferdinand issue. Believe me. Terry is an idiot of the highest order & I wouldnt even dream of defending him, but what about Irish players, for example, who get racially abused. Its an offence to call some one what Terry called Ferdinand or Suarez called Evra (both allegedly…. before anyone jumps down my throat), but if a player gets called a paddy or a kraut or a frog (or worse)….. its ok as long as he is also white??? Anyway.. sorry for going off topic. Barack to bounce back in the next debate.

Obama, Romney – what difference does it make? Both will protect the rich, destroy the dollar and allow the military industrial rulers to continue on their mission towards global control. Obama is a good bull$hitter in front of a mic (and teleprompter) but he changed nothing.

I don’t really have an issue with his religion if he is LDS that’s his business but the fact that he comes across as a closed minded dumb ass who insults whole sections of the American community, yeah that could be considered an issue as a possible future president.
