Investigation launched after newborn baby girl found dead in car

The infant was found in a car in east Belfast on Tuesday evening.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland have launched an inquiry after the body of a newborn baby girl was found in a car on Tuesday evening.

The PSNI has issued a statement to say detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. The infant was found in a car in a street off the Upper Newtownards Road.

Officers are assessing the results of a post mortem examinations and making enquiries with the family of the deceased.

The PSNI advised no further information will be made available at this time.

    Poor little girl..hard to imagine how anyone could leave a little body in a car like that regardless of the circumstances..very sad.

    Very sad! Poor little darling. Who knows what happened. The mother must be in a distressed too. I hope she’s found and gets all the assistance she needs.

    jumping to conclusion that someone did something to the baby what if it was still born ???what if someone tried get to hospital and than reality hit not enough information to judge people!! rip little angel x

    @Katrina I think it is actually. In what other circumstances would a baby-newborn-be left dead in a car? Sure it could be something gruesome but it’s highly unlikely. If it turns out NOT to be an unwanted pregnancy carried to term & something more sinister-then either way it’d be better to have the option of not being pregnant.

    This is not a loaded statement, it’s a genuine question….If you found out the baby was only 5 r less months old would it change your mind on the circumstances considering some abortions are allowed up to that time?

    I’m just genuinely confused sometimes as to how people can be so devastated by a tragedy like this and yet have seen pregnancy scans of fully formed babies in their moms womb at 12 weeks old and celebrate a choice to get rid of that baby.
    Please don’t hate – it’s a genuine though. I don’t work for a catholic organisation!!!
