Poll: Should the voting age be lowered to 16?

Have your say.

JUST UNDER TWO-FIFTHS of young people believe that the voting age should be lowered to sixteen, according to a new survey.

The report by the Ombudsman for Children’s Office found that 39% of people voted yes when asked if they think young people in Ireland should be able to vote at age sixteen, while 50% said no and 11% said they’re not sure.

Over 1,000 secondary school students took part in the survey.

Earlier this year, Minister for Education Norma Foley has said that lowering the voting age to 16 is a “discussion worth having”.

Other EU countries already have a lower voting age, with Belgium and Germany joining Austria, Greece and Malta in allowing sixteen-year-olds to cast their vote in the recent European Elections.

So today we’re asking: Should the voting age be lowered to 16?

Poll Results:

No (9815)
Yes (1244)
Unsure (221)

Hope they put up prices. It’s so frustrating , when you find what you want, only to see you must contact company, then you’re put through the mill for information. So you just go elsewhere!

Retailers not on the web now are years behind. Even if they do get up and running, they will be so immature, they will struggle to be really successful, without huge investment.

There’s nothing worse than ending up in some business directory when searching for a company.
    Product, price, convenience.
That’s all I need, it doesn’t have to be rocket science.

I wouldn’t trust an online Irish retailer having seen how badly run most Irish retailers are.

Is it 2005 again? Keep up lads, no wonder shops are closing if they are so slow to change.
