COLDPLAY LEAD SINGER Chris Martin performed a song on Grafton Street ahead of the band’s concerts in Croke Park, appearing to film content for a music video.
Hundreds of fans gathered on the Dublin street this evening after rumours circulated that the band would appear.
Frontman Chris Martin made an appearance for around half an hour and was professionally recorded performing the same song – We Pray – several times.
He was joined by singers Burna Boy, Tini, Elyanna and Little Simz, who feature on the newly released song.

Fans watched with excitement as he filmed the content before making his way through the crowds to leave.

Martin was seen entering the Fitzwilliam Hotel, which gardaí had to subsequently block the entrance of as crowds milled around.

Coldplay are set to take the stage in Croke Park tomorrow, Friday, Sunday and Monday.

Seems like a thourglhy decent guy.. 1st couple of album’s were great.. following album’s were bit meh.. but that’s just personal taste.. One thing I do know is he is an excellent front man and they are an excellent live band, full of energy and put on a great show.. quite the opposite to the brothers grimm, who stand like statues, if they can be bothered turning up.

Don’t really want to hijack another story to leave this comment but considering the journal closes comments on most anything these days I will leave it here.. the previous article about Joe Bidens hastily constructed pier in Gaza is laughable. Surely the best way the USA can aid the people of Gaza is to stop supplying the IDF with weapons / ammunition and bombs… how the rest of the civilised world hasn’t been more vocal about the US and their unbelievable hypocrisy is baffling me. And the irony of such a remark coming from a person whose profile pic is of padraig pearse. Padraig was assassinated following his arrest for taking part in the 1916 rising. A rising by a native people against an occupying force. Have you no shame using that pic considering your views seem to be in contradiction to the views of the man in your profile picture?
@Andy Mc Laughlin: the reason why comments are closed on most stories is because people won’t abide by rules and some berk will come on saying some comment that could lead The Journal into trouble for allowing such comments so to mitigate against such issues they close the comments.

@sean weir: It mostly relates to defamation and the increased responsibility put on media outlets as publishers, regardless of who wrote the comment. They’re better safe than sorry.
I find this attitude strange though, the Journal is one site, most news sites don’t allow comments at all – media outlets aren’t the arbiters of our general right to hold opinions. Is a news site that doesn’t have a comment section impinging on your right to hold a view point on something? Not having the option to express views on every single website in existence does nothing to stop us having opinions or expressing them at all.
