More ‘good’ news. Every man for themselves, and a few locals doing the work a properly functoning would do.

And as for the things ONLY a government can do? Nothing but distant promises.

    Classic Ireland.

@Max: Dredging rivers on a large scale was done in the 50′s and 60′s under the
Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. It was a measure to stop annual winter flooding of fields.
The rivers were deepened and widened and large flood banks built with the material.
The environmental impacts were huge. Salmon could no longer swim upstream in shallow rivers. Migratory water birds such as geese and ducks disappeared for lack of flooded fields.
There is a scheme to raise the river banks in Midelton, but without the worst side effects.

No doubt it will be contested all the way by the usual suspects.

Jeez is Cabbage Head a prophet now or just stating the obvious. Poverty is going to happen nationwide due to the taxes and increases we have to endure to fund Cabbage Head’s party’s policies. But he ain’t shouting about that!!
