Mace store in Co Limerick village sells winning €5.5 million Lotto ticket

The winning ticket from Wednesday’s Lotto jackpot was sold in Kildimo, Co Limerick.

LAST UPDATE | 27 Sep 2024

THE NATIONAL LOTTERY has confirmed that the winning ticket from Wednesday’s jackpot was sold at a Mace store in Co Limerick.

The winning ticket worth €5.5 million was purchased at the Mace in Kildimo.

Wednesday’s winner, who becomes the seventh Lotto jackpot winner of 2024, has made contact with the National Lottery.

Store owner Carol Mulcair said her store has has a couple of small wins over the years but nothing of this size.

“It’s great for the area and will definitely create a buzz around the place,” said Mulcair.

She added: “The staff are thrilled too. We’re a very rural, local shop with the same people coming in every day, so I hope it’s one of them. Whoever it is, we’re absolutely delighted for them.”

The National Lottery has confirmed that the Limerick winner has made contact, and arrangements are being made for them to collect their prize.

Anyone lucky enough to scoop a lotto win is reminded that they should sign the back of their winning ticket and treat the ticket as if it were cash.

If the winning ticket was bought in a shop, the prize must be claimed within 90 days of the draw.

@Thesaltyurchin: The shop gets a prize too, to be shared among the staff. Not sure how much it is, though.

Thats correct Sean. “Shop gets €25,000 for selling a Euromillions winner, €10,000 for an Irish Jackpot winner, €3,000 for Lotto Plus 1..” and so on. Always thought if I won I’d give em all 10K or something… Euromillions like! they’d get nothing for the Canadian lotto ;)

You’re both out of date by nearly 2 years!!
The Ontario teachers pension board, along with their partners An Post, sold all of their shares in the Irish national lottery company to the owners of the French national lottery, FDJ in January 2023.
The Canadians had been trying to offload it for a while.
