RTÉ is making an Irish version of Traitors - and you could be part of it

The show was a hit in the UK, US and the Netherlands and now RTÉ is looking for Irish contestants.

RTÉ IS TO air its own version of Traitors, a reality game show where strangers complete challenges and vote against each other in hopes of winning a cash prize.

The show was a hit in the UK, US and the Netherlands and now RTÉ is looking for Irish contestants who are willing to move into a remote castle next spring and be filmed as they try to weed out the “Traitors” among them.

Each day, the contestants will embark on missions that seek to add more money to the prize pot of up to €50,000.

Only the ones who survive until the end will have the chance to win the cash, and if a Traitor remains undetected, they’ll steal all the money.

Grainne McAleer, a commissioning editor at RTÉ, said it’s an “ambitious and entertaining” format that promises to make for “compulsive viewing”.

“If you think you can outsmart and out-schmooze, this could well be for you.”

Those wishing to participate must be over 18 and available in Spring 2025.

Darren Smith, MD Kite Entertainment, which will produce the show for RTÉ said: “We’ll do our best not to let them, and most importantly Irish viewers, down.

“Now, we’re off to get ourselves a beautiful castle, a great cast, some cloaks and a brilliant host!”

Dear Regina, thanks to your party ever man woman and child owes €42,000 per person. And your worried about cycle lanes. You destroyed our nation left us with over 300k of our children to emigrate. We have a third world health system, and you have created an economy where to survive in Dublin a young couple must have a combined income of 120k to get a basic home. We are not progressing as a nation.50 years ago a man could be a post man buy a house raise 4 kids bring them on holiday. Put them through college and pay his mortgage.

@Argus Romsworth: Go read the OECD reports on wages, real wages are down over 5% since 2019, our GDP growth is slower than inflation, low paid workers haven’t had such low purchasing for their wages since the 80′s. Interest rates are still extremely high. Our GDP growth will be very sluggish and then it will begin to shrink because we can’t house workers. This is basic economics, how can be people say we are doing great when our fundamentals are so bad. You go and read what actual economists have to say about our economy. We are in desperate shape for the future and low income workers haven’t been this poor in decades. A third of two parent working families with 2-5 children would be homeless without the government giving subsidies to employers and landlords. Be realistic We are not in good position.

Shameful stuff from Doherty here. Most cyclists aren’t the peleton types who take off for 4 or 5 hours blocking up roads in their lycra. They are people looking to navigate urban areas in a green, healthy and time efficient way. The roads are not safe for cyclists without cycle lanes.

I live in Berlin, comparing cycling infrastructure to the Berlin Wall is reductive and insulting to a city that actually has quite decent cycling infrastructure.

Authoritarian? You’d swear the greens are the majority partner in this government, of which her party is a member. Doubling down on an own goal, probably not the best strategy.

The point of departure for environmental concerns should take two parallel tracks into the future. There is utility until cleaner innovations to large-scale transport are found, and then there is the enormous task of undoing the damage created by experimental theorists to society.

Politicians have a large hand in dealing with the former, but the latter is entirely an issue for society and the electorate to remove the taxpayer-funded hysteria generated by the modelling community and replace the hysteria with genuine climate research with its multiple research areas.

People are not slaves to a subculture; it is time to stop acting that way. Bicycle lanes are far removed from the actual issues at the centre of the academic/political vehicle of mathematical modelling and human control.
