THE DUBLIN FIRE Brigade were out in force earlier on Lower Abbey Street in Dublin city centre tending to smoke coming from the Abbey Theatre.
A spokesperson for the Abbey Theatre told TheJournal.ie:
A bulb in one of the corridors blew, which caused some smoke and set the fire alarms in the building off. The fire brigade came and we were evacuated.
Four fire engines were sent to the incident at around 1.30pm and were finished at around 2.30pm.
The building was evacuated for some time while the fire services investigated.
Organisers were glad to get back into the building to get ready for the two shows that are on stage there tonight:

A Dublin Fire Brigade spokesperson said they were sent to the scene because “there was some smoke coming from some part of the building. It was a minor incident.”
No thespian or regular Joe soaps were injured and there was no real damage caused.

It’s city centre fire alarm. Nearly sure all of these get similar levels of tenders responding. Two pumps, a turn table ladder and command vehicle. Open to correction here.

My first thought on seeing the headline of ‘four fire brigades tend to abbey theatre’ was this means nothing and could be really minor…. I was right
