It’s the hijacking of every single article the second it goes up by the same few people using endless IDs, trolling and posting/pasting the same comments over and over again…it has gotten incredibly tedious. @Fiona: It isn’t straightforward or black and white. Humour is often a coping mechanism. It’s also a real sign of progress. A bit of distance and perspective has cooled things. When we can laugh at situations or see a bit of dark humour in them, it can really help to take the heat out of situations,

There’s also a lot of sarcasm and irony in there that gets missed or misunderstood by a lot of older commenters around here. They take everything too literally. The main thing is that their generation and audience gets it. There’s a much more nuanced, complex and witty dynamic evolving in NI, where you can have your background, culture and beliefs but also get on fine with the traditional ‘other’.

There’s tonnes of shared humour in there that lots of younger people can relate to. It’s nowhere near as simplistic and literal as many around here make it out to be, It’s healthy and it’s progressive and a damn sight better than where we were before.

@Fiona: I know there is a history between Palestine and Northern Ireland, because of their similarities. But I don’t think Kielty was too impressed with them either, and he lived during The Troubles. The boys in Kneecap weren’t even around when the Good Friday Agreement happened.

What’s more interesting and even more positive is the middle of the venn diagram where lots of friendships, creativity and de-demonising are happening. People are looking at it through an old lens and don’t understand this new dynamic and narrative. Not that’s it wholly new. The punks and ravers used to congregate even when things were really bad. But this is a new era and lots of little changes are happening that many don’t understand when they look at things in such an outdated black and white fashion.
